M-F with occasional Sunday Hours

Salary: $55,000 - $60,000 plus full benefits

Position Description

The Parish Administrator’s primary responsibilities are to be the central contact and hub for all church staff, parishioners, visitors, vendors and the community at large. The Parish Administrator must be well-organized, able to work independently while under the supervision of the Rector, and flexible in responding to the changing needs of the parish.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide a warm, professional and helpful presence to parishioners, staff, visitors, neighbors, and the community.
  • Produce and oversee the weekly printing of bulletins for Sunday worship, holy days and other special services such as funerals and weddings.
  • Maintain membership and giving database, in collaboration with accountant and rector.
  • Manage parish calendar and scheduling, including bookings and schedules for regular and special worship services, ministries, meetings, rentals, and special events.
  • Utilize Realm church management software as needed for member engagement, event registration and volunteer management.
  • Manage the website and social media presence, ensuring its contents are up to date.
  • Coordinate contractors for maintenance and other buildings and grounds projects in collaboration with the rector, sexton, and designated lay leaders.
  • Manage key correspondence, such as pledge acknowledgements and thank-you notes.
  • Coordinate pastoral care requests.
  • Manage all office functions including: mail, supplies, security, repairs, keys, and supervise volunteers as needed.
  • Coordinate special projects and other duties as directed by the rector, as appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent skill level
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Friendly and approachable disposition
  • The ability to meet deadlines while multi-tasking, prioritizing, and working efficiently
  • Demonstrated proficiency with:
  • Microsoft Office suite and basic desktop publishing
  • Membership database systems
  • Email management platforms
  • Online meeting platforms
  • Website management and social media
  • Not a member of St. James’ Episcopal Church

The successful candidate will have demonstrated:

  • Three to five years of experience in office management, preferably in a church environment.
  • Ability to thrive within a collaborative work environment
  • Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality
  • Experience with the dynamics unique to ministry work and church communities, with a preference for familiarity with the Episcopal Church

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to move about the church/ school campus including climbing stairs.
  • Sight and hearing adequate to perform the duties of the job.
  • Able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Able to sit at a computer for moderate periods.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
