Job Summary:
We are looking for an individual who is inspired by code development, has worked within Linux and understands cyber security best practices. The individual should enjoy working within a highly motivated team that produces products that save lives every day. Specifically working alongside our Vice President of Technology, the local & remote technical staff and our remote pioneer Software Developer and external developers.

This position plays a key role in the design, testing and maintenance of our software systems. You will be involved with writing, coding and updating our key programs critical to the operation of the Emergency Alert products with potential for modification of third-party software to suit our business’ needs.

Clearly, we need you to be detail-oriented, have excellent problem-solving, analytical abilities and a willingness to communicate challenges as they arise as well as enjoy celebrating the team’s successes. A strong candidate will be able to work independently and as part of an overall development team.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Ability to understand/learn architecture and further design/updating of existing applications developed mainly using C++
  • Ability to work seamlessly within Linux
  • Take ownership of assigned tasks that are part of new feature implementation, bugfixes and enhancement activities
  • Isolate problems, determine and implement/recommend solutions
  • Work with the Vice President of Technology to evaluate test results of any software and systems updates prior to release, as needed
  • Technical communication with internal team and external developers
  • Work with the Vice President of Technology and extended Technical Team to evaluated New Feature Requests.
  • Active participant with the Software Development Roadmap utilizing JIRA to capture issues, define “epic” bodies of work, breaking down/grouping stories/tasks, update statuses and timeframes
  • Participate weekly as part of the Sales & Technical Team for review of current programs and initiatives
  • This can be a hybrid on-site/remote position with active communication

Required Skills & Technical Competencies

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in design and development of C++ software applications and frameworks in Windows/Linux
  • Hands on software development experience with strong C++ programming skills
  • Experience with Linux variants including CentOS
  • Familiarity with Linux SystemV and system boot process and device handling
  • Familiarity with Linux System Administration including bash/csh scripting
  • Experience in requirement analysis, design development, coding, code review and unit testing
  • Ability to write effective and reusable code according to best practices
  • Familiarity with Cyber Security Framework best practices and enhance the software code to limit risks
  • Interpersonal skills for building relationships
  • Willingness to work independently but understand that collaboration remains crucial for this role

Required Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer & Electronics Technology, Computer Science or Associates Degree in same with proven technical skills
  • Professional experience involving audio and video technologies are a plus
