Controller Job Description

A large Distributor is looking for a Controller Associate who will join our growing company. This role will work closely with the executive management to scale the current accounting and reporting function. This role will be a key contributor to revenue cycle, expense control, and planning process improvements in a high growth, faced paced exciting organization.

The ideal candidate must possess a high technical and analytical aptitude, will have an understanding of general accounting principles, and exhibit the willingness to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage the day-to-day activities of accounts payable, cash collections and disbursements, accounts receivable management, fixed asset records, general accounting, cost accounting and account analysis.

Oversee month‐end close, balance sheet, reconciliations, and analysis of results the accuracy and productivity of the day-to-day activities of accounts payable, cash disbursements, invoicing/billing, customer credit, collections, payroll, perpetual inventory integrity, fixed asset records, general & entity accounting and cost accounting.

Safeguard assets and assure accurate and timely recording of all transactions by implementing disciplines of internal audits, controls and checks across all departments

Develop, improve and issue timely monthly financial results and reports for the Chief Executive Officer and other members of the senior management team.

Provide financial analysis tools to evaluate company ventures or special projects, programs, capital expenditures, products costing, as necessary.

Prepare monthly financial reporting pursuant to the Company’s senior and subordinated credit agreements including covenant testing and compliance certificates.

Prepare and track all treasury functions including the reconciliation of all of the Company’s operating, disbursement, sweep and revolving line of credit accounts on a daily basis.

Work and support HR personnel on the Company’s various benefit and workman’s compensation / safety plan.

Interface with outside audit firms(s), banks and lessors, casualty/liability insurance agent(s), credit card companies, and collection agencies on an as needed basis.

Provide a visionary and leadership implementation role on behalf of Finance to all departments, creating a well-respected department.

Oversee all corporate tax matters including income taxes, sales & use taxes and payroll taxes.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

1. Manages the day to day and overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Accounting Department.

2. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company policies and applicable laws.

3. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, planning, assigning, directing work, rewarding, disciplining employees, performance reviews, and addressing complaints and resolving problems.

SKILLS

1. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations including tax code.

2. Ability to respond effectively to complex situations. Must possess critical thinking and problem solving skills.

3. Possess effective and persuasive presentation skills on complex topics to top management.

4. Must be well experienced and proficient in the application of GAAP to all areas of bookkeeping, payroll, budgets, statistical analysis and probability statements.

5. Proficient in the use of various computer software programs including Excel, Word and various other types of accounting related software.

6. Lead and/or participate on cross-functional teams to ensure the continuous, on-going improvement of processes, methods, productivity and quality, while reducing costs.

7. Flexible to fast paced, multi‐tasking, environment

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Healthcare Industry experience is a plus
  • 10+ years of progressive career growth in accounting
  • Cost accounting experience
  • Ability to present detailed, complex data in easy-to-understand analyses
  • Excellent MS Office Suite product knowledge, including Word, and PowerPoint. Specifically demonstrate advanced excel spreadsheet skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, CPA preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 - $1,400,000.00 per year
