Status: Hourly – Part Time

Position Summary:
The Accounting Manager performs accounting functions to support corporate management, branch operations teams, and off-site branch office managers. This is a part-time position working approximately 20 hours per week. Working hours are flexible between the hours of 8am – 5pm. There is also opportunity to work from home for certain days of the week. The benefits of Holiday Pay and Personal Time Off are included with this position.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Accurately and quickly, perform the following tasks:

  • Oversee corporate accounting activities, including working with our external accounting firm, to ensure the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports.
  • Record business transactions to the general ledger system.
  • Sort and compile invoices.
  • Input vouchers, employee reimbursements, invoices, checks, account statements, reports, and other records ensuring files are complete and maintained as needed.
  • Match payments to invoices.
  • Oversee disbursement activities, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, purchase orders, petty cash, employee expense reports, and cash control.
  • Process and issue checks for accounts payable ensuring payments are made timely and that all reasonable discounts are taken.
  • Assemble information for monthly sales tax filing.
  • Work with adding machines, computer systems, calculators, databases and bank accounts.
  • Research, track, and resolve accounting problems.
  • Perform monthly allocation of corporate overhead expenses to branch offices.
  • Assemble month end reports for financial reporting.
  • Reconcile bank accounts monthly.
  • Input and receive material via purchase orders to inventory and jobs.
  • Match invoices to purchase orders.
  • Generate invoices for work order billing.
  • Generate pay applications for job billing.
  • Issue monthly customer statements.
  • Generate initial correspondence for delinquent accounts.
  • Create and update documentation on accounting work processes .
  • Occasionally route incoming phone calls to appropriate office personnel.
  • Track vehicle and equipment information.
  • Enter annual inventory count sheets.
  • Support the production of the annual budget.
  • Participate in a variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports.
  • Other duties as required.

Interactions:
Interacts with project managers, vendors, customers, field employees, off-site office managers, and company management.

Problem Solving:
Must have the ability to field questions and solve problems from all interactions.

Mental and Physical Demands:
Some work will be subject to schedules and deadlines. Strong organizational skills are beneficial.

Special Requirements:
A health examination is required to determine the individual’s capability to perform the duties as outlined in this position description. A drug test will be part of this examination.

Special Skills and Expertise:
A high school degree is required. An Associates or higher degree in accounting is preferred. 1+ years of accounting experience required.

Must be self-motivated and able to react to multiple situations. Strong computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and accounting software will be required.
Must have knowledge of corporate, cost accounting principles and systems, and GAAP principles. Must be able to keep corporate, financial, and personnel records confidential.
