Job Description :

The VP of Engineering and Product Strategy is part of the company’s Executive Management Team and will report directly to the CEO. The person in the VP of Engineering and Product Strategy role will directly oversee the entire engineering team and product management. The priorities of this position include strategic product roadmap planning, product design, development and testing of new product(s), implementing enhancements to existing product(s), and transferring product designs to manufacturing.

  • Contribute meaningfully to Executive Management Team’s discussions surrounding company strategy, product development, and employee management and growth.
  • Manage the entire product development process from user needs findings to producing validated designs.
  • Plan, implement, and oversee engineering and development strategies, engineering schedules, procedures, goals, and objectives with a focus on bringing products to commercialization.
  • Ensure alignment of engineering projects with the company strategy and product vision.
  • Set engineering project timelines, deliverables, budgets, and KPIs.
  • Measure effectiveness of teams through definition of operational metrics with clear visibility.
  • Oversee the development and management of near-term and long-term (multi-year) product roadmaps, as well as their underlying visions, strategies and business cases.
  • Oversee engagement with users, the assessment and gathering of market feedback and continuous product improvement efforts, all of which are to be a cadenced design as a part of the Product operating model.
  • Develop and implement product and technology-related strategies to maximize company revenue, profit and/or meet long-term business objectives  Work closely and collaboratively with teams across the company to drive cohesive work on the company’s product offering.
  • Identify engineering resource needs and collaborate with the executive team to ensure all engineering projects are successful – on time and within budget  Identify opportunities to leverage new technologies to drive process focused performance.
  • Identify process improvement as prioritized to business needs and external benchmarks that resolve root cause of problems/inconsistencies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering  10+ years’ of progressively responsible engineering management experience, including building and growing teams.
  • 5+ years’ of experience of working with executives on high level planning and working with team to execute.
  • Medical Device industry experience required.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop technical roadmap for a company’s product line.
  • Familiarity with engineering tools used for product design and maintenance.
  • Experience in ISO13485 Quality Management Systems.
  • Experience defining OKRs and managing using KPIs.
  • Reading and interpretation of technical documents and manuals, mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Strong interdisciplinary leadership experience in electrical, mechanical, regulatory, prototyping, validation, and test areas.
  • Strong business acumen with an understanding of financial implications of new product development, scale up, process improvement, and risk.
  • Ability to challenge status quo, identify key areas for improvement and drive change to implement actions to address.
  • A demonstrated ability to solve problems using multidisciplinary and hands-on approaches.
  • Be able to make critical decisions and lead cross-functionally.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication skills.
  • Strong ability to communicate technically complex material to audience with differing levels of technical knowledge, including customers.
  • Excellent detail and presentation skills.
  • Highly collaborative, inclusive, creative and flexible.
  • Passion for leading, mentoring and inspiring engineers as a co-worker, actively involved in day-to-day engineering.
  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $200,000.00 - $250,000.00 per year
