Textile Woven Rug Designer

NATCO Home Fashions is seeking a Textile Woven Rug Designer for the Floor Coverings Department. We are looking for a hard-working, creative-thinking team player to join our design department. NATCO is a 105-year-old family company that has evolved to be one of the top Floor Covering companies in the country, owning several domestic manufacturing facilities as well as having many international partnerships. Our main office is located in Rhode Island.

As Designer, you will be responsible for assisting in and taking the lead on the design and development of area rugs for customers including but not limited to Kohl’s, Walmart, Big Lots, Aldi, Home Depot, and Pottery Barn. While this position will involve creating new designs, a large portion of this position is helping with production work: putting designs into presentations, recoloring designs, selecting yarn and pantone colors for designs, resizing designs, and making weaving/production files. We are also looking for someone with a strong background in trend research and experience making mood boards and color palettes.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 2-3 years industry experience
• Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree preferably majoring in Textile Design
• Experience working with rugs or woven fabrics preferred.
• Critical eye; able to produce ready to sample artwork in accord with company standards
• Expert in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. Knowledge of Ned Graphics/Texcelle a plus
• Understanding of weave structures
• Basic Microsoft Office knowledge
• Intuitive, fast computer operation
• Able to demonstrate attention to detail as well as a genuine desire to learn
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
• Ability to work well with and coordinate with teammates on design requests
• Able to take the lead on design requests and see projects through from beginning to end
• Enthusiastic, flexible, reliable, and capable of working alone or as part of a team

Responsibilities:

• Create original artwork for indoor and outdoor woven, tufted, and printed rugs
• Additionally, work with purchased artwork as well as existing area rug artwork, and modify/recolor it according to trends or customer requests
• Resize and clean artwork in preparation for sampling and make production files
• Select yarn and pantone colors for designs
• Make design files for sample requests
• Stay informed of trends in home fashions using trend forecasting websites (such as WGSN) and contribute research for the development of back to college, everyday, and indoor/outdoor trend guides
• Put together presentations for sales meetings and Home Fashion Markets
• Consistently generate design ideas based on key trends, important concepts

Pay: From $45,000.00 per year
