EYL 365 Project is currently accepting applications for a Video Game Design Teaching Artist for the 2022-2023 school year. We are seeking passionate and experienced Gaming Teaching Artists with a strong interest in Social Justice and Racial Equity Arts Education. This position is for in school and/or after school residency opportunities, at our DCPS Ward 7 & 8 partner schools. TAs must have demonstrated previous experience teaching Computer Art Design & Animation ideally in Washington, DC Public School settings. Additional experience with entrepreneurship, marketing and branding is also a plus!

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop concept design, animation, and user experience.
• Creating sketches for storyboards, and contributing style to the look of games. others.
• Develop and teach a video game design curriculum for middle and high school students in a community based after school program in Washington, DC articulating a sequence of projects, developing daily lesson plans that develop students' skills and move projects towards completion, creating a welcoming, stimulating, creative environment for all learners, supporting individual learners and leading group feedback sessions
• .Minimum 2 years experience in video game design. Must be available to work evenings when the program is in session. Commitment to positive youth development and asset-based frameworks is required.
• Previous teaching experience in a K-12 environment, including work with school, community programs, museums or non-profits is preferred. Teaching experience with low-income youth in DC is a plus.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

• Computer animation skills with both 2D and 3D programs, as well as drawing skills and an understanding of color theory, scene design, and illustration.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, engineering, game art or closely related field
• Experience coaching or teaching school-aged children
• Working knowledge of computer art design
• Availability to work after-school hours
