Summer Semester Mechanical Engineering Co-Op (Internship) - Special Testing
Description:
The co-op (intern) will work within our Special Testing Department out of the Marietta, GA location. The primary focus will be on support of product testing, load testing fatigue testing, and the associated reporting and documentation. This position will report to the Special Testing Manager.
This position requires the ability to work 40 hours or more per week during the co-op semester with a normal day shift type schedule.
Responsibilities:
· Assisting engineers and technicians with the testing of products for compliance with standards and regulations and ensures quality control and compliance
· Assisting in the organization and upkeep of the lab
· Working with engineers to create test fixtures for new customers to meet customer test requirements
· Utilizing Solid Works for drafting of fixture components for machining
· Writing test reports in accordance with our quality procedures
Requirements:
· Applicants must be pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or in a directly related field
· Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% overnight, away from the Atlanta area
· A working knowledge of Solid Works
· A working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
Must have completed at least one of the following classes: Statics, Strength of Materials, Engineering Materials (Materials Science), Fluid Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer
· Ability to occasionally work in excess of 40 hours per week (during a co-op cycle)
· Must be able to meet the physical demands of climbing ladders and be able to lift 80lbs
· Ability to work unsupervised
· Strong organizational and skills
· Ability to multi-task and work in a growing environment
