Job Title: Staff Accountant

Reports to: Controller

Overview: The Staff Accountant position will work in a team-based environment assisting the Controller and other accounting staff with finance functions for the Company. This position is responsible for full cycle accounts payable, cash application, preparing control documents, monthly reports, journal entries, processing payroll, and assisting with audits. This is a key role within the company ensuring the maintenance of a healthy financial profile that will assist in the growth and success of the organization.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Initially provide back up support with the goal of total responsibility for all payroll functions (including government and union reporting).
  • Initially provide back up support with the goal of total responsibility for all of credit card processing.
  • Preparing some state and local tax reports (e.g. Sales Tax & B&O Tax);
  • Month end support – Bank Reconciliations, UPS, Verizon & posting Recurring entries, etc.
  • Full cycle AP for non-subcontract AP.
  • Provide back up support Subcontract A/P System (including Subcontractor compliance).
  • Provide back up support for Owner Billings (including Project compliance requirements)
  • Work with Owners, Subcontractors, & Vendors on financial inquiries via email and phone.
  • Assist in preparing materials for internal and external audits (Governmental, Insurance, Owners, etc).
  • Make suggestions and implement process changes to improve departmental and company-wide efficiency.
  • Help maintain Accounting Policy & Procedure Manuals; and
  • Act as an assistant to the Controller on various projects within the financial department as needed.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Accounting with 2+ years of experience in accounts payable and accounting (construction industry preferred)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with an emphasis on Excel, and accounting software.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of company personnel.
  • Excellent organizational skills with an ability to multi-task with a wide variety of responsibilities and projects.
  • Exhibits critical thinking and problem-solving skills with an accurate attention to detail.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $72,800.00 - $81,120.00 per year
