Job Description :

Defibtech is seeking a Senior Product Manager, Public Access / AEDs responsible for the upstream marketing strategy for Defibtech’s Automated External Defibrillator product line(s), including current and new products. This role will manage the product throughout the product lifecycle to deliver innovative products and customer excellence by gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, defining the product vision and marketing strategy, and partnering closely with R&D, Product Engineering, and Manufacturing, Additionally, the Senior Product Manager is responsible for collaborating with downstream marketing, marketing communications, sales, distributor partners, and other support functions to meet revenue and customer satisfaction goals. This role is based on site at our headquarters in Guilford, CT with some remote/hybrid capabilities as needed.


Core Responsibilities:


  • Utilizes a deep understanding of Defibtech’s current portfolio of AED and related products and programs to develop comprehensive product roadmap for assigned product lines.
  • Identifies unmet customer requirements and new business opportunities while providing vision and focus to move products from idea to marketplace.
  • Drives New Product Innovations through Defibtech’s Stage-Gate Product Development Process, from concept through commercial launch, ensuring that all marketing deliverables are timely, comprehensive, strategic, and impactful.
  • Coordinates all product release activities with downstream marketing colleagues, including sales and marketing plan development, product naming, pricing, product documentation, packaging, customer-facing collateral materials, and global forecasting.
  • Develops UMR (User Marketing Requirements) for new products and delivers prioritized features with business rationale. Initiates insight generation to populate value propositions for the product portfolio and leads efforts to validate value propositions through voice-of-the-customer input.
  • Collaborates with external third parties to assess partnerships and/or licensing opportunities.
  • Develops and executes marketing strategies and tactics to ensure products in the assigned portfolio achieve revenue and operating profit targets.
  • Develops and executes short and long-term marketing programs to ensure profitable market share growth.
  • Identifies candidates for product obsolescence and develops corresponding discontinuation plans in conjunction with cross-functional teams.
  • Coordinates project assignments and communication across sales, R&D, Engineering, Quality Assurance, Regulatory and Manufacturing.
  • Acts as the “messenger of the market” incorporating external feedback into the rest of the organization. Provides business/market analyses including but not limited to market trends, market share, average selling price, gross margin, and competitive analysis.
  • Partners with functional leadership to continue to develop departmental and functional processes and workflows.
  • Demonstrates Defibtech’s values on the job by focusing actions on Integrity, Passion, Ownership, and Innovation. Promotes and participates in continuous improvement.
  • Actively supports compliance of Company operations to all applicable laws, regulations and standards, good business practices and company documented procedures (including but not limited to FDA, Quality Systems Regulations, safety regulations and applicable statutes).


Qualifications / Requirements:


  • Bachelors and at least 5 years of relevant experience working in product management or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience working in the medical device market.
  • Experience with evidence based medical marketing.
  • In-depth experience and understanding of resuscitation products, emergency medical services (EMS) and/or Pre-hospital markets, is a plus.
  • Preferred candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in marketing, engineering, business, or a similar field of study and at least 7 years of related experience in product management.
  • Successful track record in developing comprehensive product marketing business plans.
  • Demonstrated success defining and launching medical device products.
  • Strong familiarity with the product development lifecycle. Ability to execute the business plan while managing the PDCA cycle.
  • Ability to develop and utilize clinical data.
  • Understanding of the FDA and international medical device regulatory processes.
  • Strong analytical skills and the passion to drive business growth. Ability to think creatively and pragmatically.
  • Proven ability to influence and lead cross functional teams without formal authority.
  • Results-oriented with a positive attitude and drive to get things done.
  • Must be detail-oriented and flexible.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work well within a team environment and independently.
  • Have a demonstrated ability to use voice-of-the-customer to drive product initiation and improvement
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software such as Salesforce.com.


Work Environment and Physical Demands:


  • Work is primarily based in an office setting, including remote and onsite work. Candidate must live within a commutable distance from our Guilford, CT headquarter facility.
  • Travel domestically and internationally up to 40%.
  • Sedentary work with frequent sitting at a desk working on a computer, standing and short durations of walking throughout location(s) and lifting up to 15lbs.
