Classification: Exempt

Reports To: Allyson Carry, Branch Manager

Department: Surface Transportation/Transactional Truck Brokerage

Location: Sunrise, FL Branch Office


Job Summary

Reporting to the Sunrise Branch Manager with support from the Senior VP of Sales, the Sales Executive will be responsible for developing new accounts that grow the company’s market share. The Sales Execute is a highly motivated, self-starter who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment. This role is a combination of outside and inside sales (80/20). This is an ideal opportunity for candidates who have previous brokerage/asset provider experience with strong multi-modal knowledge, with an understanding of the logistics challenges in the corresponding market and are familiar with selling in that market. Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop a sales plan to ensure constant sales growth
  • Understand and communicate Cornerstone Systems services and transportations solutions
  • Focus on market segments, commodities, modes of services (i.e.: TL, Dray, Warehousing, Final Mile)
  • Cultivate account relationships with contacts at multiple levels within customer organization via calling and face-to-face visits
  • Identify opportunities to further penetrate accounts by selling a large service portfolio
  • Design solutions and help customers solve their supply challenges
  • Prepare pricing options and receive support from the pricing/operations teams, consult and work closely with Cornerstone operations staff to ensure customers’ needs are met
  • Identify and sell both transactional and contractual pricing models
  • Manage customer expectations through the creation and utilization of account metrics
  • Attend, network, and market Cornerstone Systems at industry functions
  • Stay abreast of, understand, and communicate current marketplace trends, industry news, etc. (rail/truck markets, capacity/driver issues, etc.)
  • Must be willing and able to travel (50-75%)

  • Other work-related duties as assigned by manager


Minimum Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Transportation, Logistics preferred, but not required
  • 3+ years of sales experience in working for a freight brokerage, 3PL or asset-based logistics provider
  • Bilingual English and Spanish highly preferred
  • Possess an entrepreneurial attitude, competitive spirit, and leadership qualities
  • Strong negotiation skills (Carrier, Customer and Margin Integrity)
  • Ability to work independently and as a team
  • Possess a strong sense of urgency and time management
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
