Job Description Registered Nurse:

Interpret and carry out physician/clinician orders, assess client needs, exercise nursing judgment in client care, provide leadership and assistance in health services, and participate as an active, integral member of the health care team. The staff nurse must display initiative and follow-through on duties with relatively little guidance; retain all confidentiality in client-related matters; be able to assist in identifying the changing needs of the health center; support the team concept of a health center staff; and maintain a professional working relationship with clinicians, co-workers, and clients.

Job Overview Registered Nurse:

    • Prepare and maintain confidential client medical records including processing and filing charts.
    • Maintain accurate records of client registration, medical records, lab tests, treatment, etc.
    • Competently utilize the patient information system and practice management software.
    • Maintain updated knowledge of family planning services, abortion services and birth control methods provided by the organization and provide accurate information to clients seeking information.
    • Provide appropriate and accurate client education, including medication education to clients for prescribed medications.
    • Support clients physically and emotionally during examinations, treatments, and procedures.
    • Participate in client follow-up regarding abnormal test results, referrals, appointments, etc.
    • Complete routine lab tests including, but not limited to measuring and documenting client height, weight, and blood pressure.
    • Maintain cleanliness and inventory of the lab areas, recovery room and exam areas.
    • Perform invasive procedures as prescribed, i.e., injections, TB testing, and venipuncture.
    • Perform limited pelvic ultrasounds for purposes of measuring gestational size on all patients.
    • Begin and monitor intravenous flow of medication(s).
    • Conduct nursing assessment prior to the administration of conscious sedation.
    • Prior to administering conscious sedation, ensure that all safety measures are in force, including back-up personnel skilled and trained in airway management and resuscitation, should complications occur
    • Administer medications ordered by a provider lawfully authorized to prescribe for the purpose of induction of conscious sedation for short-term surgical procedures.
    • Anticipate and recognize potential complications of conscious sedation medication; recognize emergency situations and institute emergency procedures when indicated.

Qualifications Registered Nurse:

    • Graduate of an accredited Nursing school.
    • Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in Maryland.
    • CPR/BLS certified.
    • Possess minimum of 2 years related Nursing experience.
    • Ambulatory surgical experience preferred.
    • Ability to work in a cost effective, efficient, flexible and customer service-oriented manner.
    • Experience working with EPIC Electronic Medical Records Programs. Epic/IV Placement Helpful!
