We are seeking an experienced, passionate, and dedicated Project Management Professional who, through their communication and influential skills, will drive the continued transformation and commercial success of FuelCell Energy.

Responsibilities:
The Project Manager role is a critical enabler in achiving Project success.This role must be well-versed and experienced in all facets of Project Management with an unwavering commitment to quality and safety. This individual has strong communication and negotiation skills and has a long track record in successfully developing and executing projects in full compliance with all safety and environmental rules, regulations while achieving COD on time and on budget, if not early and under budget. This individual understands the impact of change, brings real world hands-on experience and is results driven. This leader has progressive management experience, is energetic with proactive critical thinking and decision-making abilities to identify opportunities and achieve results. The Project Manager is responsible for executing full scale Turn-Key Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) Power Generation projects.

Specific duties include:

  • Identifies and interprets commercial and technical project requirements and translates requirements into internal production documents that are distributed to engineering, procurement, and finance defining the project and equipment allowing for fabrication
  • Develop project budgets for Engineering and Construction, monitor project spend, prepare monthly forecasts.
  • Develop individual project schedules integrating all stakeholders’ tasks, (i.e. design, procurement, EPC, Commissioning).
  • Maintain integrated master schedule for all project activities, integrate schedules of contractors to identify critical paths, resource needs and constraints.
  • Ensure that work is completed to specification, and per code requirements, within budget and completed on schedule.
  • Create various artifacts such as resource plans, project schedules, work breakdown structures, release/iteration plans, communication plans, risk management plans, issues logs, and action and decision logs
  • Review contracts, identifying project risks, execution concerns, and validating that the scope of work is fully defined, sufficiently detailed, and reflects the budgeted values.
  • Provides project management and supervision of all contracts associated with the project from contract execution through commercial operation. Such contracts may include sales contracts with clients, long term lease agreements, power purchase agreements, and subcontracts and purchase orders with general contractors, engineering firms, equipment suppliers, etc
  • Develop Request for Proposal (RFP) documentation and packages, solicit bids, and reviews the resulting proposals ensuring completeness, adequacy, consistency, and adherence to project requirements. Following the review, proposals are objectively reviewed and ranked and provide recommendations to executive management for approval to move forward with the recommendation
  • Negotiate subcontracts, purchase order terms and conditions, and change orders with contractors, suppliers, and trade labor supporting project requirements.
  • Manage change order requests made by Suppliers, minimizing cost impacts. Document all changes adequately to enable company can defend any unsupported change order requests.
  • Responsible for all aspects of the project through its completion including all internal and external reporting, notifications, communication, financial planning, invoicing, scheduling, logistics, engineering, permitting & approvals, construction, and testing meeting contractual obligations and internal process requirements
  • Monitors and reports on project status specifically regarding schedule adherence and ensures all project milestones are met on time and on budget
  • Acting single point of contact for all project related communication with all levels of Management and all personnel involved in project support, including but not limited to: i) internal engineering, construction management, procurement, logistics, legal, finance, and service, as well as ii) external clients, land owners, owner’s engineers, general contractors, trade labor, utilities, inspectors, and government officials
  • Direct the work of project team members and guides team in prioritizing work based upon knowledge of customer requirements, project schedule, and various dependencies while driving issues to closure or escalates obstacles to project leadership team as necessary
  • Leads multi-function teams in a matrix organization and responsible for developing strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Coordinates with water, gas, sewer, communication and electrical utility providers on utility layouts, related engineering activity, and approvals to construct and operate
  • Facilitate that all construction sites are safe from mobilization though COD, perform ad-hoc safety audits.
  • Lead acceptance and commissioning process to verify plant complies with contractual obligations and design
  • Facilitate and document lessons learned meeting with project stakeholders and suppliers as part of project closeout process.
  • May, on occasion, support sales and marketing and / or project development by supporting site walks and introductory client / host facility meetings
  • Perform other duties and special projects, as assigned by the Senior Management.
  • Assist with the development and support of local Project Management Office policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Limited travel (30%) domestic and international is required
Qualifications
  • Education: A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Project Management required, OR any other relevant equivalent bachelor’s degree will be considered. Master’s Degree is preferred.
  • Experience: Eight (8) years of related Project Management experience, with a minimum of 5 years of professional experience managing the performance of major projects, preferably in building power generation or other utility-scale construction projects.
  • Experience required for internal candidates: Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience leading and/or managing engineering and operations projects and proven track record of living FCE company values/work styles.
Candidate must have demonstrable knowledge/experience in:
  • Certification in Project Management or Degree in Project/Operations Management.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Project and Excel.
  • Competent in office software, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Visio.
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills

  • Work in outdoor conditions that includes inclement weather, heat and humidity

  • Be able and willing to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as designated such as safety glasses, safety shoes, hard hats, respirator, and other PPE as required.
  • Travel: up to 15% domestic or international
  • Have or be able to obtain a Passport
