Grand Itasca Clinic & Hospital, a part of Fairview Health Services, is currently seeking a dedicated Patient Access Service Representative to join our team!

POSITION: Patient Access Services Representative - Casual

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Casual (on an as-needed basis)

WORK SCHEDULE: Monday-Sunday, Day/Evening,8 and10-hour shifts

DEPARTMENT: Patient Access

JOB SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for answering all incoming calls to the facility during clinic hours and determining the needs of the caller as quickly and as courteously as possible. This employee is responsible for completing the registration process within Patient Access, including verifying insurance, assuring that registrations are completed with accurate data. They are responsible for initiating referrals and financially securing accounts.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Demonstrate proficiency in directing phone calls to the appropriate area and/or sending an electronic message to the appropriate area accurately.
  • Monitors the attendance of providers and department directors and uses this information in determining the best way to direct calls.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the scheduling of patient appointments. This includes following principals of scheduling with the required information populated.
  • Verify insurance, patient information, guarantor and account information at the time of scheduling.
  • Responsible for arriving all patients for scheduled appointments. This includes obtaining the necessary consents, signature and documents from the patient. Verify that the patient and insurance verification has been done.
  • Collect any co-pays at the time of service.
  • Identify any potential coverage issues or self-pay issues. Engage the financial advocates if appropriate.
  • Demonstrate the ability to accurately enter patient information and scan required documents in the computerized scheduling system
  • Prioritizes the customer experience and acts with the customer in mind in all situations, dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers; established and maintains trusting and respectful relationships with patients, coworkers and external customers.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Age 18 years or older
  • Associates degree in business related field preferred
  • One year customer service or scheduling experience.
  • The ability to collect co-payments and present fiscal information in a professional, confidential manner.
  • Ability to use appropriate computer applications.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to discuss financial obligations with patients in a professional and confidential manner.
  • Adhere to all Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital policies.
  • Maintains consistent and reliable attendance.
  • Ability and willingness to cover all patient access areas as needed, including weekend coverage.
  • Preferred candidate has one year admitting experience and/or health insurance experience.
  • Perform other related duties as required. This list is not all-inclusive, and any other task or job may be assigned in the future.
