Summary of Position

Blue Plate Catering is looking for a Accountant to join our team. BPC is an award- winning catering company in Madison, Wisconsin, that strives to exceed client’s expectations at every event. Since 1992, BPC has established itself as the premier catering company in Madison, and continues to grow into other Wisconsin markets.

The Accountant position is responsible for the management and reporting of financial data of the organization. Duties include preparing financial statements, managing accounts receivable and accounts payable, and tracking cash flow. We desire a collaborative learner who wants to positively contribute to the BPC culture and who wants to generate value for the company by helping with the execution and improvement of our accounting practices, including the accurate and timely generation of financial statements and business intelligence insights.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintains internal financial statements
• Receives vendor invoices, reviews for accuracy, makes payments
• Balances vendor accounts ensuring credits are received/applied
• Perform month-end reporting
• Reconcile daily banking transactions and monthly bank statements
• Effective and timely communication when responding to ad hoc requests from management, peers, internal and external customers, and government officials
• Identify and capture continuous improvement, automation, and robotic opportunities

Required Experience and Education

• College Degree in Business or Accounting (CPA license preferred)
• Proficient at Excel spreadsheets
• Quickbooks: 3+ years experience
• Experience in general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, account reconciliation, and sales and use tax reporting
• Proven strength in attention to detail
• Strong analytical and reporting skills
• Written and verbal fluency in English
• Restaurant/Catering financial experience is highly preferred but not required

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands, and frequently reach with hands and arms to lift and office supplies of 35+ pounds.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour
