POSITION SUMMARY:
The Operations Accounting Manager is a key position within the Finance function, responsible for all aspects of management accounting and reporting. A key deliverable of the role is business partnering with the Operations team, supporting this function with reporting, analysis, and insights. The Operations Accounting Manager is also responsible for the financial and capital planning process on an annual and periodic basis. In addition, for the first two years, this position will be focused on a large growth project.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and maintain weekly and monthly Operations key performance indicators
  • Prepares financial performance reviews with all key Operations functions
  • Assist with the financial planning process, including related analysis and reporting
  • Drive, monitor and report on continuous improvement activities throughout the organization
  • Support Financial Controller with financial analysis
  • Partner with the Operations department leaders to drive improved profitability
  • Manage the capital expenditure cycle, including reporting, approval, fixed assets and depreciation
  • Responsible for the efficient and secure storage of all necessary operations accounting documentation and data
  • Lead and develop the Operations Accounting staff

Growth Project Duties:

  • Assist Project Manager with necessary planning and presentation tasks
  • Responsible for the preparation of financial performance reviews for the project, including tracking performance against project budget
  • Assist with development of project business case, including sensitivity analysis
  • Assist with seamless integration of project financials into the budget and monthly accounting and reporting cycle

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS/QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Accounting or business-related field.
  • Professional accountancy qualification or equivalent experience.

Skills and Experience:

  • At least 5 years of accounting and leadership experience
  • Dairy industry experience preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of management accounting principles
  • Outstanding leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate as a member of a team and leader across all parts of an organization
  • Demonstrated ability to execute plans and achieve desired results in a timely and professional manner
  • Excellent critical thinking skills to solve complex challenges
  • Demonstrates excellent MS Office skills including Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Microsoft power platform experience preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Established skills in organization, prioritization, and time management
  • Creative, self-starter that enjoys building systems from the ground-up
  • Highly self-motivated individual comfortable working individually and in groups and able to manage multiple tasks and projects efficiently within the context of a fast-paced, busy environment

Physical Requirements:

  • Occasionally subject to up to at least 92db’s with hearing protection
  • Lifting: up to 20lbs occasionally
  • Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, on a regular basis
  • Reaching: Extending hands and arms in any direction
  • Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist occasionally
  • Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly
  • Perform tasks requiring manual dexterity (e.g., Processing paperwork, filing, typing, 10-key)
  • Operate office machinery (e.g., Personal computer, copy/fax/scan machine, phone)
