The Children’s Museum has an opening for a Museum Educator. The Museum Educator delivers and facilitates enriching, play-based educational programming for school groups (primarily PreK-Grade 3) and other Museum audiences. Educators represent the Museum and ensure an outstanding guest experiences in programming out in the community and on the Museum floor. Educators contribute to the operations and creative work of the Museum and the Education Department through staff meetings, special event support and project leadership.

Hours: 40 hours per week; Monday - Friday, with occasional evening and special event shifts required

Rate: $21.50/hour (additional $1/hour for bilingual proficiency)

Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Deliver engaging and developmentally-appropriate educational programs. These programs include daily and special event programming both on-site at the Museum and off-site in the community.
  • Develop appropriate, play-based content that engages students.
  • Track and maintain program supplies, resources and budget for school programs.
  • Drive to and from off-site activities.
  • Cross-team collaboration for different projects, programs and events.
  • Provide exemplary guest service as a representative of the Museum both on-site and in the community.
  • Collaborate with colleagues within and outside of the Education Department on projects as assigned, promoting a spirit of teamwork and professionalism.
  • Clean and reset exhibits during opening/closing times and throughout the day, as assigned.
  • Provide support for Museum volunteers and/or Education department interns, as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Engaging presentation, teaching and public-speaking skills. Theater or performance experience a plus.
  • Previous experience working with teachers, schools, childcare centers and community groups is preferred.
  • Fluent English proficiency, writing, speaking and comprehension skills required.
  • Experience working with neurodivergent audiences and individuals with disabilities desired.
  • Fluency with computer software, including Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to load, unload and set up materials and equipment (up to 50 lbs).
  • Abide by all Museum policies and procedures. Wear appropriate attire and uniform when on duty.
  • Ability to qualify to drive Museum vehicles is required.
  • Minimum of one year experience in early childhood education, elementary education, or child development program; formal and/or informal teaching experience preferred.
  • College degree preferred. Relevant lived experience and other certifications considered.
