MEDICAL ASSISTANT - COVINGTON, LA
About Northlake Nephrology Institute (NNI)
We are a multi-specialty clinic that has been servicing patients on the Northshore for over 25 years. We offer outpatient services in Covington, Slidell, Franklinton and Bogalusa. We specialize in Nephrology, Pulmonology, Infectious Disease and Primary Care and coordinate with our hospitalist group to follow up with patients as they leave the hospital.
POSITION SUMMARY: The medical assistant represents the face of the entire office. The successful candidate must be able to handle a fast-paced environment that is forever changing its landscape.
ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES: (may include but not limited to):
- Answering Phones
- Greeting Patients
- Updating and scanning patient medical records
- Updating patient demographics
- Entering insurance information
- Faxing and scanning
- Insurance verifications and prior authorizations
- Scheduling appointments
- Checking in/out patients
- Collecting co-pays and reconciling daily batch
- Correspondence with other providers
- Confirming appointments
- Stocking and replenishing supplies
CLINICAL DUTIES: (may include but not limited to):
- Escort patients to exam room and accurately record vitals, medical history, and chief complaint as needed.
- Schedule procedures
- Coordinate care with Primary Care Physician/Referring Physician
- Getting materials ready for clinic
- Sending lab orders
- Obtaining lab results
- Take phone messages and provide feedback and answers to patient/nurse/pharmacy calls
- Enter medical history into EHR as needed
- Assist in cleaning the patient care area after patient visit is completed
- Follow HIPPA privacy standards. All conversations regarding patients or patient's information are to be conducted confidentially.
- May require some travel to Bogalusa and Franklinton clinics 1 - 2x/month
- Send new referrals and monitor progress
- Send medical record request, obtain and process records appropriately
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- MA or NA Certification required
- Prior experience with EHR software
- Microsoft Office experience required
- Basic Life Support (AHA/CPR)
- Prior clinic experience preferred

HOURS
- Monday-Thursday; 8:00am-5:00pm
- Friday; 8:00am-4:00pm
This is NOT a remote position. Office located in Covington, LA
