Augusta Symphony Marketing Manager
Full-time, Exempt
REPORTS TO: Executive Director
JOB SUMMARY: The Marketing Manager is responsible for planning, supervising, administering, and evaluating programs to maximize orchestra visibility and to drive attendance and exceed ticket revenue goals for Augusta Symphony events. The Marketing Manager executes all marketing activities, including but not limited to public relations, advertising, season subscription and renewal campaigns and single ticket sales, patron data analysis, and social media.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Marketing
· Communicate all Augusta Symphony plans and activities to the media. Develop and maintain positive contacts in local and regional media outlets.
· Oversee the development and production of all materials used to support the Symphony’s events and marketing campaign, including brochures, print ads, posters, digital media copy, social media, telemarketing scripts, press releases, newsletters, Symphony Series, Pops!, and Family Concert Program Books, and Community Chords Education and Outreach programs and annual Gala fundraiser. Ensure the quality, consistency, and accuracy of all Symphony communications.
· Maintain the Symphony website, in conjunction with platform manager.
· Work with Box Office Manager to train box office and telemarketing staff to drive subscription sales and renewals.
· Work with Miller Theater Marketing Manager on cross-marketing of events.
· Conduct audience and market research, and in conjunction with Development staff, work to transition single ticket buyer to subscribers and donors using data analysis.
· Track and evaluate ticket sales, patron loyalty, and organizational growth using key metrics.
· Use market research to develop season ticket pricing and predict annual sales.
Budgeting and Planning
· Establish appropriate goals for the subscription and other ticket sales campaigns.
· Develop a plan for achieving those goals and establish a master calendar that outlines all campaigns and special events; coordinate all activities with Symphony master calendar.
· Develop budgets for each campaign, monitor the progress of each and adjust plans as necessary.
· Negotiate contracts and trade agreements as needed with outside vendors for the provision of direct mail, telemarketing, market research, design, print, tv, radio, photography, and videography services; ensure competitive pricing and quality of their work.
· Identify and track organizational and market trends to predict challenges and opportunities for the Symphony.
· Work closely with the Music Director and Executive Director to develop program themes.
· Work closely with Director of Finance to ensure proper recording of ticket sales and marketing expenses.
· Work closely with Development Director to maintain and update databases, use patron analytics to drive communications effectively, and ensure well-timed and targeted messaging campaigns.
Community Relations
· Attend Symphony concerts and events, acting as liaison to the media and public.
· Develop and maintain relationships with local business and arts leaders to enhance the Symphony’s marketing and public relations efforts. Work to build public understanding of and support for the unique role of the orchestra in the community.
· Attend civic and cultural events as appropriate.
· Assist in community outreach by promoting Community Chords education and outreach events, distributing comps and vouchers as appropriate.
· Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
Skills and Qualifications
· A Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field and/3-5 years performing arts marketing experience.
· Proficiency in Adobe Suite, Canva, WordPress, Vimeo, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Office and Dropbox, Google Analytics, HTML and web technologies.
· High-level proficiency in social media platform management.
· Knowledge and experience with CRM and ticketing software, such as DonorPerfect and Etix.
· Knowledge of the print production process.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills.
· Demonstrated skills in organization, planning, and goal-setting.
· Ability to work both independently and within a team framework.
This is a fulltime position. Some evening and weekend hours are required as the Marketing Manager attends board meetings and concerts.
