Marketing and Donor Stewardship Coordinator is responsible for growing, developing and maintaining individual donors, creating strategies for the identification, cultivation and stewardship of identified annual fund donors. Coordinator also assists in the marketing process of A Safe Place from research and planning to execution and analysis. Reports to the Director of Events, Communication and Video Production and, will work closely with other members of the Development team, the Chief Development officer, the CEO, and the Board of Directors.

A Safe Place is a recognized 501(c)3 nonprofit organization listed under Lake County Crisis Center for the Prevention & Treatment of Domestic Violence Inc.

Position is located in Zion, IL.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS -

Marketing Responsibilities:

  • Participates in the development and maintenance of branding and identity initiatives with the Chief Development Officer and Director of Events, Communications and Video Production.
  • Assists with and implements marketing plans, including events, programs, new initiatives, and other marketing projects.
  • Develops and maintains ASP website and social media pages as needed.
  • Oversees, maintains, and grows organization website, email marketing campaigns, and all social media channels
  • Offers expert advice to develop innovative advertising, public relations, social media, and events
  • Maintains relations with media partners and negotiates for advertising contracts when needed
  • Demonstrates excellent communication, written and verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Assists with the organization and coordination of direct mailings to individual donors, including annual appeals
  • Serves as an articulate, enthusiastic, and visible spokesperson for A Safe Place - building and sustaining external relationships as needed Works closely with the CEO to develop, plan, implement and manage marketing and branding strategies and communications based on the goals of the organization
  • Works with Director of Events, Communication and Video Production to create and Edit marketing materials utilized by all ASP programs.

DONOR STEWARDSHIP:

  • Creates, develops and implements Individual Giving Plans to nurture, maintain and grow donors of A safe Place.
  • Create, organize, and maintain donor data in Little Green Light. Exercise professional discretion in the research, selection, and preparation of data; update data systems for efficient acquisition, application, and maintenance of data related to the stewardship of donors and gifts; perform regular data quality control to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Support Development Team in updating/creating special event websites on Greater Giving.

  • Works with Director of Events, Communications and Video Production to identify, recruit, engage, and steward potential, new, existing, and lapsed donors.
  • Provide input on donor engagement strategies as it relates to social media and other outlets such as the website, email communication, and mailings.
  • Builds relationships with individual donors to maintain their interest in A Safe Place and to generate additional donations to the organization
  • Identify, plans and executes opportunities to recruit donors, such as soliciting local women’s groups/clubs, local corporations, and others as applicable.
  • Cultivate donors to support ongoing opportunities for funding. Assist with the design and implementation of a comprehensive written stewardship plan to reach current annual fund donors and annual pledgers via the Purple Ribbon Society.
  • Develops and implements a strong individual gift program that will engage current and new donors to achieve Major Gift giving capacity. Encourage increased donations and identify and re-engage lapsed donors with a focused, agreed upon “ask”. Research donor capacity through data mining in Donor Perfect to support major gift infrastructure. Responsible for the distribution of all recognition and stewardship communications, electronic and otherwise.
  • Plans, develops and executeseducational events, tours, and stewardship activities that engage donors with A Safe Place.
  • Support Development team with donor relations at special events. Help facilitate communication that focuses on event sponsor cultivation, including benefits to sponsors.
  • Administer daily business functions including tracking donations in Little Green Light via the envelopes process, and mails thank you cards and/or electronic correspondence. Monitor, document, and makes changes to recognition levels as needed.
  • Responsible for monthly giving Program and all credit cards donations and credit card gifts. Communicate with donors if/when credit card has expired to ensure no lapses in donations occur. Acknowledge all donations promptly.
  • Participate in staff meetings, as well as evening and weekend events and activities as required.
  • Elevate ASP as a thought leader in social justice areas in which it works and increase the visibility of its overall impact across key stakeholder audiences.

RESPONSIBILITIES FOR OVERALL:

  • Attends and participates in staff meetings and other trainings and meetings as requested
  • Works as a team player in the organization
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned by the CEO

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Ability to develop and articulate a compelling strategic vision for ASP’s communications across multiple platforms and diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated results as a fundraiser, marketing and event professional, ideally with 3-5 years of experience in a fast-paced organization or solicitation type of activities.
  • Experience in donor database, social media management, WordPress websites, and email marketing.
  • Commitment to the philosophy and program of A Safe Place, including commitment to survivor’s and children’s issues, a strong belief in helping to create a society free from violence and an active commitment to creating a cooperative work environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to develop relationships with a variety of individuals for giving purposes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office products, particularly Word, Excel and Power Point.
  • Desire to tell the story of A Safe Place in order to cultivate new donors for the organization.
  • Creative approach to donor acquisition.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage others (Board and Executive Director), as appropriate, in the work of donor development.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Ability to handle multiple task/projects.
  • Ability to use good judgment.
  • Excellent organizational, and administrative skills.
  • Ability to accept, to understand, and to relate sensitively to people of varied socio-economic, racial, cultural, and experiential backgrounds.
  • Ability to move and lift heavy items, such as furniture, and household supplies.
