Overview:
The RTI University Collaboration Office seeks a prospect for the Legal Summer Internship within the Office of Corporal Council in the General & Administrative (G&A) unit.

This internship is a contract position. The employment contract is administered by Greene Resources Powered by Array, RTI’s supplemental staffing partner.

The Legal Summer Intern will work with RTI’s Office of Corporate Counsel, which provides legal advice and counsel for RTI in its operations, both domestically and internationally.

The Legal Summer Intern will assist with legal research, special projects, and other tasks on a variety of topics, including one or more of the following depending on the intern’s expressed interests and RTI’s needs and/or available projects: employment law, international and comparative law, government regulations, government contracts, intellectual property, data privacy and cybersecurity, ethics, and general corporate matters. This is a half-summer (6-week) internship. Interns will work a hybrid schedule, with at least two days per week onsite in our Research Triangle Park office.
Responsibilities:
  • Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Collaborating with members of RTI’s Office of Corporate Counsel.
  • Conducting legal research and drafting memos on a variety of topics, including employment law, international and comparative law, government regulations, government contracts, intellectual property, data privacy and cybersecurity, ethics, and general corporate matters.
  • Working on special projects and other tasks that may be assigned from time to time.
  • Attending meetings and presentations with relevant stakeholders as needed to better understand relevant issues.

Additional Information

This hybrid paid internship will take place for six weeks between the months of May, 2023 and August, 2023. The internship requires a minimum commitment of 25 hours per week. Hours are flexible during business hours, Monday through Thursday.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
  • Current law student or recent graduate.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated skills in research and writing.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Global mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Interest in one or more of the following areas of law: employment law, international and comparative law, government regulations, government contracts, intellectual property, data privacy and cybersecurity, ethics, and general corporate matters.
  • Interest in RTI’s mission to improve the human condition through scientific and technical solutions.
  • Interest in serving as counsel for a non-profit research institute.
