Role Overview

The CAD Drafter will generate detailed technical drawings from designs developed and provided by engineers. Such drawings include (but are not limited to): dimensional drawings, step-by-step assembly drawings, sheet metal bend diagrams for CNC machining, electrical routing and control panel layouts, refrigeration systems piping, cut-away views, field retrofit assembly drawings, illustrated parts breakdowns (IPBs), etc. This position will report directly to the Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities

• Works with minimal supervision and independently to interpret customer requirements, sketches, mark ups, verbal and written directions to create CAD engineering concepts and drawings
• Develops detailed costed BOMs for commercial self-contained HVAC systems
• Prepares presentations for program and design reviews
• Create, maintain, and provide input for engineering documentation such as Bill of Materials (BOMs), production routings, and engineering change orders (ECO),
• Create sheet metal DXF files and detailed bend diagram drawings for CNC machining
• Produce and support the creation of service literature such as product manuals, product specification/Data Sheets, and other technical reference materials
• Verify dimension of parts, materials to be used, relation of one part to another, and relation of various parts to complete drawings
• Possess the ability to understand problems and resolve those problems and communicate effectively
• Provide technical assistance on work methods and procedures improvement efforts
• Verify completeness and accuracy of drawings for themselves and other Designers
• Document production processes and create standard work instructions
• Keep workplace clean, tidy and in good condition.
• Other duties as assigned

Desired Skills (Nice to Have)

• Experience with working in an HVAC design or manufacturing environment
• Experience with sheet metal design and/or fabrication
• Experience with CNC programming (turret punch and/or press brake)

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Engaging in repetitive movements of wrists, hands, and fingers typing and/or writing.
• Working frequently at close visual range (i.e. preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcription, computer terminal, extensive reading).

Qualifications

• Associates Degree or equivalent work experience
• 2+ years experience in CAD design, preferably Solidworks
• Experience working in an ERP environment
• Experience in Product Data Management systems
• Microsoft office Suite
• Assisting other designers a huge plus
• Experience working in a design environment governed by ISO 9001:2008

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $23.00 - $30.00 per hour
