Position Summary:
Jr. Accountant will support the Director of Accounting in general accounting functions. The key role will center on general ledger account activity, supporting the fixed asset system and month end close activities. The Jr. Accountant may also support WA B&O tax filing as personal property tax filing with WA state Department of Revenue. The ability to successfully work in a team environment, to work across multiple facets of the organization, to properly prioritize daily activities, and to understand accounting issues in a rapidly growing corporate structure is essential in this position.
Performance Objectives:

Develop and maintain fixed asset system including the preparation and recording of entries for setting up new fixed assets and depreciation of new and existing assets. Ensure that fixed assets are depreciating under appropriate GAAP guidelines and in accordance with Company policy.

Assist in preparing reports and providing accounting-related information and analysis to departmental managers, management team. Timely and accurate creation of financial information/reports as directed on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.

Maintain inventory system including physical count monthly at company warehouse, reconcile between physical count, general ledger, and subledger. We also have small amount of inventory at a local vendor, reconciling between vendors’ records and subledger to ensure no issues.

Perform monthly general ledger accounts reconciliation, including weekly bank account reconciliation, maintain and amortize prepaids based on its terms, and month end close activities in short period within 2 days. Drive process improvement for reduction in the close cycle.

Learn how to prepare and file monthly WA Business and Occupation tax as well as file WA B&O annual reconciliation and WA personal property tax

Assists with any external financial audits, interim reviews, and external relationships as needed.
Hiring Criteria:

3 years relevant experience; preferably in a high-growth environment

Bachelor's degree required, preferably in accounting

Knowledge of GAAP principles

Experience in assisting of closing the books, key involvement in the monthly, quarterly and annual closing process

Strong communication skills
-
Foster teamwork and encouraging collaboration between department and functional teams through process, communication and systems

Strong computer skills, Excel prefer

Previous experience with Great Plains a plus

Flexibility to work additional hours as needed

Analytical, technical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
