Job Title: HR & Operations Department Manager

FLSA Status: Salary

Reports To: Store Manager

This position is responsible for delivering all aspeacts of the HR function to their store location. The position is a key leader within the store that focuses on all people related matters. This will require you to think strategically, use data to guide your work, be comfortable challenging and influencing others, and cultivate the talent within the store. This position builds strong relationships with the in-store leadership team as well as all assocoates in the store.

Responsible to ensure all company policies and procedures are being followed, department goals and objectives are being obtained, and associates’ needs are being met. This position works closely with our Store Manager to conduct day-to-day store operations efficiently. Responsible for maximizing sales and providing excellent customer service, merchandising product, maintaining appropriate stock levels, developing and training store associates, and achieving productivity goals.

HUMAN RESOURCES ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Responsible for the full-cycle recruitment efforts of the store .This includes creation of job postings, sourcing, screening, interviewing, extending offers, and performing new hire orientation.

· Responsible for regularly searching for “A” level talent to bring into the talent pipeline for for future needs of the store.

· Leads weekly payroll processing including daily timecard edits, creating new associate profiles and ensuring time cards are accurate on a weekly basis before the close of payroll. Additionally, this position is responsible for maintaining compliant payroll records on-site.

· Partners with leader(s) on employee relations and performance management situations and consults with the HR Director on workplace issues and investigations.

· Builds relationships with associates and fosters a sense of belonging through active inclusion of individual talents, perspectives, experiences, and capabilities.

· Works side by side with the leadership team to build relationships, drive engagement, drive loyalty and retention, and develop a best in class work environment.

· Coaches leaders to lead their teams, navigate difficult situations, and resolve employee relations issues.

· Promotes awareness of associates rights and actively manages leave management options: FMLA, STD, ADA, and Worker's Compensation administration for eligible store associates.

· Performs accommodation reviews by engaging associates and leadership to ensure business needs are met.

· Responsible for rolling out programs and providing training to support our associates and leadership team.

· Leverage people data such as turnover, exit interviews, and HR metrics to guide decision-making and offer solutions to improve results.

· Serves as a direct resource to associates on benefits including medical, dental, ancillary benefits, and paid time off.

· Facilitates company recognition programs and ensures leaders are executing program standards.

· All other duties as assigned.

OPERATIONS ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Maintain Hometown Grocers Culture within the store.

· Assist in the development of associates.

· Supervise associates in the store operation.

· Ensures all department standards are being met in the store.

· Interrelate with all management teams, Buying, Accounting and Personnel offices.

· Responsible for budget and labor projections and to make daily adjustments as necessary.

· Observes sales floor and back stock conditions; takes action to correct areas of opportunity.

· Responsible for maintaining all safety programs to ensure a safe work environment.

· Support and execute a superior guest service program.

· Regular, timely attendance in compliance with the work schedule, and adequate notice to find a replacement for occasional absences

· Other duties as assigned

RELATIONSHIPS AND CONTACTS

Supervisory Relationships:

· Directly reports to the Store Manager

· Indirect reporting relationship with Director of Human Resources

Organization Relationships:

· Daily contact with all levels of store management to provide coaching, discuss recruitment needs, provide HR policy interpretation and guidance.

· Frequent contact with HR colleagues to share best practices and expertise.

· Regular contact with the Director of Human Resources to seek support and guidance on all in store activities including employee relations and procedural questions.

· Frequent contact with in-store associates regarding store matters and their career with Hometown Grocers, Inc.

QUALIFICATIONS

Human Resources or Operations Management experience of at least 2 years is required. Strong knowledge required in the following:

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

The physical demands and work environment described below are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

· Sitting at a computer 50% of the time

· Bending, stretching, and occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs. is required

· Walking the store is an essential part of this role and is expected each day

· Professional presence and proper phone etiquette is required

· The employee must possess the ability to stand in place for long periods of time; walk in the store; bend, stoop and kneel regularly. Requires fine finger and broad manual dexterity, and eye-hand-foot coordination in order to operate equipment.

· This position requires the employee have the ability to have full range of upper body motion in order to occasionally lift stock. Requires the ability to perform repetitive tasks for prolonged periods of time.

· Must possess functional sensory abilities in order to visually monitor the store, create attractive displays, and to operate equipment.

· Working conditions consist primarily of a temperature-controlled environment. The ability to work outside checking store property, in walk-in coolers or freezers for short periods of time is necessary.

· This job involves exposure to changing temperature and humidity (i.e. freezers, coolers and warehouse). Chemical cleaning agents, irritating or competing noises or other irritating substances, and working in areas with wet and slippery floors.

WORK SCHEDULE

The HR & Operations position is a full-time salary position (40 hours). The most common shift to be worked will be 7:30am to 5pm including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
