POSITION SUMMARY
The Manager of Culture and Associate Relations is a visionary leadership position to ensure the ongoing viability
of the hotel’s workforce to achieve its mission, vision and values through ongoing training, coaching and
development of staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Duties:
1. Determines recruiting strategies and manages the recruitment of qualified applicants for hotel
open positions in collaboration with the hiring manager(s). Ensures that hiring standards are
followed (i.e. behavioral interviewing, reference checks, team interviews). Proactively recruits
talents for all departments. Coordinates and manages a list of active applicants to fill open
positions in a timely fashion.
2. Serves as a liaison between Management and Hourly associates.
3. Provides hotel associates assistance with coach and counseling, grievance process, recognition
programs, instructions on appraisal process, and ensures a positive work environment.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
· Schedules and ensures all associates participate in relevant orientation programs, service skills
training, telemarketing courses, etc. (including, but not limited to brand and InnVested Training
programs) and conducts training programs in effective and engaging manner. Contributes to
departmental training classes and monitors the effectiveness of training.
· Creates and coordinates daily huddles.
· Takes responsibility for own training and career development.
· Ensures active representation of the department on the hotel’s safety committee.
· Creates a culture of teamwork and respect. Develops strategies to align the hotel's culture with its
strategic management plans.

· Is knowledgeable of and promotes all of Vesta Hospitality’s tools, resources and initiatives to
create a work environment of cohesiveness and high service and brand standards.
· Ensures all departments are in full compliance with all Federal, State and Local laws pertaining to
Human Resources, Employment, Wages & Hour, Occupational Health & Safety (OSHA), EEOC,
wage and hour laws, American Disabilities Act Amendment Act (ADAAA) and Hazards
Communication (MSDS) and any additional laws as may be applicable.
· Provides assistance with the processing of appropriate worker’s compensation, work related injury
and unemployment claims to ensure proper completion of required paperwork; monitors costs,
participates in safety committee to help minimize potential liabilities. Receives and processes
personnel action forms and payroll changes and maintains accurate and up-to-date associate
files.
· Handles and/or assists with payroll and benefit administration.

· Maintains punctual, regular and predictable attendance.
· Works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.
· Displays excellent communication skills including presentation, persuasion, and negotiation skills
required in working with guests and coworkers and including the ability to communicate effectively
and remain calm and courteous under pressure.
· Respectfully takes direction from supervisor.
· Complies with all safety policies, practices and procedures and reports all unsafe activities to
supervisor.
· Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve hotel and company goals.
· Provides leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge and skills.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position provides guidance and resources for all managers and supervisors of the hotel and directly oversees
and supervises staff in the human resources department. Supervisory responsibilities include performing the
following duties: hiring, assigning work, orientation, training and development, evaluating performance, elevating
compensation, rewarding performance, mentoring, approving time off, resolving complaints, disciplinary action and
associate separations, effective staffing procedures, awareness of and response to associate morale problems.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Education and/or Experience
A minimum of a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) plus two years related hotel experience.
A minimum of five (5) years of experience in human resources, training or similar field.
Experience with hotel computer systems and spreadsheet programs useful.
Language Skills
Must be able to read, write and speak English. Must be able to read and interpret simple and complex
documents, reports, manuals and correspondence. Must be able to write simple and complex documents,
reports, and correspondence. Must be able to speak effectively with clear speech to individuals and groups.
Must be able to apply common-sense logic and understanding to carry out instructions provided in written and/or
oral form. Must have the ability to solve problems involving several variables in given situations and interpret a
variety of instructions provided in written and/or oral form. Must be able to demonstrate effective interpersonal
skills, sound judgment and decision-making. Must be able to utilize mathematical skills, including the ability to
add, subtract, multiply and divide. Must be able to accurately perceive, comprehend and analyze situations, data,
and incidents. Must be able to memorize codes and instructions, such as those required for using the hotel’s
computer system.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and
decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Occasionally required to
calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area,
circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Computer Skills:
Job requires specialized computer skills. Must be adept at using various applications including database,
spreadsheet, report writing, project management, graphics, word processing, presentation creation/editing,
communicate by e-mail and use scheduling software.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
