Under the direct supervision of the Environmental Services Supervisor the Environmental Services Technician I perform a variety of environmental surface cleaning duties to maintain the hospital in an orderly and sanitary condition. All duties are to be performed in the best interest of Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center and its patients.

WORK PERFORMED

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities

1. Perform all cleaning functions in assigned areas following established schedules and using the 7-Step Cleaning Procedure method (cleaning from cleanest to dirtiest).

A. Introduce Yourself –AIDET (if applicable)

B. Replenish Supplies

C. Remove trash , clean & disinfect trash cans and replace liner

D. High/Low Dust, Damp Wipe/Disinfect –. Disinfect all high touch areas, furniture, and spot clean walls and windows. Clean, disinfect using appropriate dwell times (surface must remain wet for the duration of the dwell time) according to specified product requirements.

In addition, upon patient discharge – terminal cleaning of patient rooms

E. Restroom Cleaning – Restock supplies. Clean and disinfect sinks, showers and fixtures. Clean & disinfect toilet (use Johnny Mop to clean inside of toilet only) Use a cleaning cloth to clean the rest of the toilet. Always flush the toilet to prevent chemical splashes on the user of toilet. Put a clean toilet seat paper on the toilet lid. Mop floor.

F. Dry/Wet Mop/Vacuum Floors - Mop hard surface floors with a micro-fiber or wet mop and vacuum carpeted floors (mop floors using S-Stroke).

G. Inspect Your Work- to make sure notice is missed and that nothing is left behind.

H. Update Room Status- in the Meditech Bed Management Program using the phone updating system and/or use manual discharge procedure when electronic system is not available.

2. Maintain assigned equipment for cleanliness, tag-out equipment not functioning properly, and report needed repairs to Environmental Services Supervisor and/or Facility Services Maintenance office secretary or Boiler Room on night shifts.

3. Observe and report the need to repair equipment, furniture, and building fixtures to Facility Services Maintenance office secretary or Boiler Room on night shifts.

Other Job Responsibilities:

1. Assist in cleaning of emergency spills/floods observed or upon request.

2. In case of fire or other internal disaster or community disaster perform duties as assigned.

3. Attend and complete in-service programs and Department meetings as requested or required.

4. Perform any other duties or tasks assigned by designated supervisor or determined by Department needs.
