Position title: Operation Manager

Reports to: Director of Child Development Services

Classification: Exempt

Job Summary:

The Head Start Operation Manager is an integral part of the SCS Head Start Management Team. Under the supervision of the Director of Child Development Services, the Operation manager is responsible for providing guidance and leadership to all staff, including the management, to emphasize the importance of the program's achieving high standards of quality. The Operation Manager is responsible for successful implementation of the program policies, procedures, Head Start Program Performance Standards, Guidelines established by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), Administration for Children and Families (ACF), New Hampshire's Quality Recognition and Improvement System (QRIS), and the State of New Hampshire Bureau of Child Care Licensing. The Operation Manager will assist the Director in overseeing the daily operation of the program and supporting the management and center staff. The Operation Manager is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of the program initiatives, quality improvements, and seeking and actively pursuing supplemental funding opportunities. The Operation Manager is responsible for creating additional systems for tracking, reporting, and assisting content specific and program-wide data collection and analysis of program data. The Operation Manager is responsible for ongoing monitoring, efficient operation, and compliance with the Head Start Program Performance Standards.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide guidance and leadership to all staff and the management to emphasize the importance of the program's achieving high standards of quality.
  • Be responsible for the collection and analysis of program data and reporting of program data efficiently and accurately.
  • Assist in overseeing the daily operation of the program, including Head Start office operations, facilities, staff support and supervision.
  • Attend statewide meetings to represent SCS Head Start and to receive information pertinent to Head Start in general, including Head Start issues and concerns. Convey information to Director and the Management.
  • Identify any gaps in program systems and help develop systems for ensuring the smooth day to day running of the program, including service delivery and program management.
  • Be responsible for ensuring successful orientation of all staff to the Head Start Program Plans, Performance Standards program goals, objectives, philosophy, and job descriptions.
  • Possess skills for the hiring, supervision, onboarding, and evaluation of all staff as outlined in the agency Personnel Policies, as well as those established by the Policy Council and the Head Start Performance Standards.
  • Oversee the utilization and implementation of all available resources to benefit the program.
  • Be responsible for managing, administering, developing, and implementing initiatives to support positive child and family outcomes.
  • Pursue supplemental funding sources and prepare grant requests for program services.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Masters/Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Human Service, or related field.
  • Must pass NH State License Quick Check and must pass fingerprinting and criminal record check before hire.
  • Advance computer literacy, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and database systems.
  • Significant experience in administration, preferably in Head Start, and systems in the field of early childhood.
  • Knowledge, understanding, and experience working with low-income families.
  • Must be available to travel within the New England area.
  • Creative and positive attitude.
  • Available to work flexible hours.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team player.
  • Ability to lead projects and delegate tasks as necessary.
