The Director, Marketing will be responsible for managing the Marketing Department and assist the Chief Sales Officer in the development and execution of corporate sales, marketing and communications objectives. This position plays an integral and influential management role and is responsible for all facets of internal and external communications, public relations, brand building and maintenance, advertising, and sales and marketing strategies. This position develops and implements marketing and communications strategies with the aim of growing CBE and enhancing its brand and global presence.

The Marketing Director will be a leader in the organization, driving inbound and outbound marketing efforts with the ultimate goal of increasing revenue and creating brand preference in the marketplace. The marketing director will lead the marketing team and be responsible for the following functional areas:

Brand

  • Research, develop and implement a Brand and Communication strategy, standards and practices company-wide that elicit the behavior, emotion and recognition objectives of the company
  • Understand the company's mission, aiming to build national brand awareness and preference in a competitive market
  • Develop key messages for all audiences to communicate our core brand identity

Public Relations

  • Develop and implement annual PR calendar
  • Manage media relations, research editorial opportunities and build relationships with key industry media
  • Ensure the media and general public are aware of the company's latest developments by overseeing the distribution of press materials
  • Oversee the writing of press releases, copy for marketing materials, advertisements, and other related material

Demand Generation

  • Develop marketing plan & strategy and methods for including industry/market specific strategies
  • Analyze and report on the status and effectiveness of marketing and sales initiatives
  • Manage and optimize proposal strategy development
  • Oversee and optimize the company’s digital properties including websites and social media platforms
  • Build lead-generation campaigns to drive demand and opportunities with the sales team
  • Research and develop strategies and plans which identify marketing opportunities, direct marketing, and new project/product development
  • Create a tradeshow & event lead generation strategy
  • Conduct market research on industry trends, competitor activity, and client needs
  • Maintain high levels of communication between sales and marketing
  • Lead agencies and internal team members to execute all marketing and communications efforts including: marketing materials, digital campaigns, HubSpot management, advertising, websites, tradeshow displays, client communications, direct mail, marketing campaigns, press releases, content for trade publications, social media, etc.)
  • Drive sales enablement efforts to ensure marketing and sales are working in alignment

Strategic Leadership & Communications

  • Hire, train, manage and motivate marketing staff
  • Develop and manage the sales, marketing and communications budget
  • Write and manage department SOPs
  • Develop and implement annual communications plan
  • Continually enhance, refine and define department processes
  • Work in conjunction with other department heads, such as those in operations and sales, to help set prices for CBE’s services, keeping a close eye on trends and what the competition is doing
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external key stakeholders
  • Provide monthly reporting to the SVP, Sales and Government Relations. Will include but not be limited to reporting on the status of prioritized sales, marketing and communication activities. Reporting will be both historical and forward looking
  • Drive the total effectiveness of the department, communicating openly, solving problems proactively, offering creative ideas and working as a positive, engaged leader
  • Participate in the development of new corporate project proposals.
  • Represent the company at selective community and/or business meetings to promote the company
  • Promote positive relations with partners, vendors, and distributors
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or related field
  • Master’s degree/MBA in Marketing field preferred
  • 7+ years of experience in corporate marketing and communications
  • Ability to interact with various levels of associates and management
  • Forward thinker and strategic planner
  • Proven ability to design, develop and implement both strategic programs and supporting tactics
  • Thorough understanding of branding principles and marketing tactics, including digital-first strategies to drive demand
  • Confident, organized, analytical, innovative and capable problem-solver
  • Ability to quickly grasp complex technical and business concepts and express them in clear language
  • Flexible and open to changing priorities and managing multiple tasks simultaneously within compressed timeframes
  • Experience in planning marketing strategies, advertising campaigns, and successful public relations efforts
  • Experience with marketing automation (HubSpot specific preferred) and efficient, automated modern marketing tactics
  • Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects. Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings
  • Software skills in Monday, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Excel, and, as well as Adobe Acrobat, Wordpress and HubSpot. Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is also a plus.
