The Database Research and Verification Intern will review local sales and use tax data to verify accuracy and identify opportunities for client revenue recovery or enhancement. This is a direct revenue generating position reporting to the Tax Recovery Services Supervisor.

Job Responsibilities

• Acquire and assemble location and operations data on California businesses from a wide variety of sources such as California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA) sales and transactions tax records, city/county business license data, phone directories, internet and business journals.
• Compare and analyze large data sets to isolate opportunities for revenue enhancement for local government clients.
• Perform initial research of discrepancies to further refine potential lead lists.
• Document research and findings within company’s proprietary software applications.

Skills and Qualifications

• Strong computer skills – ability to effectively use a variety of software programs, including HdL sales tax applications and Microsoft Office.
• Initiative – ability to work independently, with a very high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Personal accountability –willingness to assume responsibility for errors & omissions which may significantly impact revenue.
• Results oriented – resourceful problem solver, focused and determined to meet or exceed individual and team productivity targets.

Compensation

The starting base salary for this Brea, CA position is expected to be between $17 to $20 per hour. Actual salary will be determined based on skills, experience (to the extent relevant) and other job-related factors, consistent with applicable law.
