J&J Snack Foods Corporate Compliance Department has an immediate opening for a Corporate Sanitation Manager who has significant knowledge of food manufacturing plants, cleaning chemicals, up-to-date methodologies, and programs, is an effective educator, motivator, and leader with a proven track record of delivering superior results.

Summary:

The JJ Snack Foods Corporate Sanitation Manager assists the Corporate Sanitarian in executing the strategy that will provide assurance that all products at all facilities are manufactured in a sanitary and wholesome environment. The Corporate Sanitation Manager will assist the Corporate Sanitarian in driving sanitation efficiencies for all facilities through the development of: sanitation teams across all JJSF facilities, harmonized standard work/SSOP documentation, training, and audit programs ensuring effective implementation of cleaning validation/verification programs that align with the JJSF Corporate Sanitation standard, identifying operational savings, line cleaning and changeovers that meet or exceed FSMA preventive control requirements to reduce food safety risk for cross-contact/cross-contamination exposure. Program development will include tracking/trending of plant operational sanitation data to drive continuous improvement and best in class sanitation, monitoring of Pest Control Programs and implementation of effective corrective actions. The Sanitation program will be proactive/strategic with monthly/annual KPIs and clear direction to improve bottom-line sanitation results; program will be compliant with GFSI and Regulatory requirements. The Corporate Sanitation Manager will assist the Corporate Sanitarian and Operations/Engineering to ensure new facilities, processes and equipment installations/modifications are hygienically executed/designed to provide proper sanitation and prevent compromises to food safety & quality of products.

Travel required 70%. Position is in Mount Laurel at Corporate HQ, remote seat at a JJSF plant location maybe considered for the right candidate.

Scope:

The scope for the J&J Snack Foods Corporate Sanitation Manager is assisting the Corporate Sanitarian in developing a holistic best in class sanitation program for 15 operating facilities across North America.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing and implementing audit programs at facility level to ensure conformance to Regulatory, GFSI, and Corporate requirements related to sanitation, pest control and water treatment.
  • Assist in development, standardization, and implementation of SSOP's and Master Sanitation Schedules. Audit for compliance.
  • Assist in tracking KPIs, leading and lagging indicators and best practices to ensure continuous improvement of sanitation programs.
  • Assist in Sanitary design discussions for new equipment purchases or equipment modifications.
  • Assist in driving conformance to maintenance programs for all CIP and related equipment to ensure that effective Preventative and Predictive maintenance occurs according to the OEM specifications.
  • Assist in partnering with chemical services providers for cost-effective sanitation technical support to drive Continuous Improvement in Sanitation.
  • Assist in activities across the network to ensure sanitation managers or leads are accompanying account managers during service calls, reviewing service reports, and assisting in the development of corrective actions to address opportunities for improvement; ensures service report corrective actions are completed and effective.
  • Collaborate with EHS to ensure sanitation procedures/activities meet OSHA requirements.
  • Assist in driving water/chemical usage in compliance with Corporate sustainability targets.
  • Assist in facility management of 3rd-party Pest Control services providers, ensuring sanitation leads are reviewing services performed, findings, and completion of corrective actions and verified as effective. Ensure Pest Control service provider works within Organic certification requirements.
  • Assist in organizing content for sanitation meetings to train teams and establish specific objectives/work plans.
  • Assist in training programs for sanitation, chemical handling and safety training, and other training opportunities specific to job function(s).
  • Assist in post-sanitation inspections/audit programs with documented corrective actions.
  • Comply with all Corporate/Regulatory food safety and quality standards, policies and procedures while ensuring the facility is in proper sanitary condition.
  • Must be able to complete all the above and any other duties as assigned by management.

Position Requirements:

  • Requires BS in Food Science, Microbiology, or related technical degree with 5-7 years’ experience in plant quality, sanitation, supply quality or relevant discipline within the food industry.
  • Extensive knowledge of: SDS, PPE, Chemical/Safety programs and requirements, Food Safety/GFSI Regulations and Federal/State-specific OSHA/EPA regulations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to write and maintain SSOP's, Master Sanitation Schedule, Work Instructions, Sanitation Audit Programs/Metrics.
  • Includes cross functional collaboration with Plant FSQA teams and Operations, to effectively manage timelines and Food Safety/Quality expectations.
  • Must possess analytical problem-solving skills including root cause analysis, organizational and basic project management skills.
  • Must set and maintain high goals and standards for self and peers and be able to lead change.
