Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the overall strategy, planning, delivery, and support of a complex service or group of smaller services, ensuring services are delivering value to the customer and performant for the customer.
  • Are collaborative and an effective communicator
  • Want to be an integral part of an organization that values innovation, diversity and impact (we also know how to have a good time too!)
  • Provide strong technical expertise in Business Availability, with a strong vision in Operational thinking throughout Dish
  • Oversee the quality of the infrastructure and products throughout the entire Operation lifecycle
  • Drive for continuous improvement in performance, scalability, extensibility, reliability, usability, and availability of the platform
  • Leverage agile methodology concepts for quality, delivery, and continuous improvement
  • Partner with business stakeholders, product managers, and other operational directors to create and maintain a supportable roadmap
  • Coaching and career development for engineering managers and staff.

Skills, Experience and Requirements:
  • 8+ years of experience in software operations
  • 4+ years of experience leading one or more application or infrastructure teams
  • BS or MS in Information Technology Management, Computer Engineering or related field preferred.
  • Experience managing high-performing teams
  • Experience with service-oriented architectures, applications, and services
  • Experience operationally maintaining a customer facing web application
  • An agile mindset (i.e. ship early, ship often, and iterate)
  • History of designing, implementing, and operating large-scale systems to resolve complex business requirements.
  • Experience managing 24x7 mission critical organizations.
  • History of managing employees across multiple locations.
  • Ability to build consensus and relationships among managers, partners, and employees.
  • Excellent communications skills.
  • Experience managing all aspects of 3rd party business relationships.
