South Plains Rural Health Services is currently searching for a FULL TIME Certified Medical Assistant/Certified Phlebotomist. Hours will be 8:00AM-5:00PM no weekends no evenings. JOB LOCATION IS IN LAMESA, TEXAS
The Certified Medical Assistant works as part of the clinic provider team and assists the physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners in the provision of primary health care. The Clinic Nurse provides limited direct patient services and performs specifically designated independent procedures.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Prepares patients for examination including the identification of the chief complaint, the taking of vital signs, height, weight, etc., and ensures smooth patient flow throughout clinic.
2. Keeps ill patients comfortable until seen by a physician, physician assistant, or nurse practitioner.
3. Assists providers in healthcare activities, performance of diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures, and the administration of medications as necessary.
4.Assists with stocking the examining room and special treatment rooms with needed supplies.
5.Conducts patients screening for hearing, sight, blood pressure and other simple routine procedures.
6.Collects specimens and delivers them to the laboratory.
7. In the absence of a laboratory technician, performs routine laboratory procedures.
8. Ensures an appropriate environment for the administration of healthcare by keeping exam rooms, nurses’ station, all equipment, and other work areas in a clean, safe, and orderly fashion.
9.Maintain positive and professional attitude toward other employees and staff.
10.Recognize own role in marketing of clinic services by developing positive relations with the public in general.
11. Participates in the health center’s performance improvement activities and performs duties in accordance with applicable standards.
12. Performs other necessary duties as required by the Nursing Supervisor/Clinic Manager/CEO to meet the goal of providing primary health care services.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Sufficient experience to carry out the duties of this position.
2. Must be certified in as a CNA & Phlebotomist.
3.Ability to relate with warmth and effectiveness to the patients and to the providers of the community health center.
4. Ability to be credentialed as a Certified Medical Assistant.
5. Must be certified in CPR or Basic Life Support techniques or willing to renew certification.
6. Bi-lingual English/Spanish PREFERRED
