We’re seeking a highly motivated Driver CDL Instructor who is passionate about mentoring others and able to spearhead the launch of our CDL Finishing School. In collaboration with Safety and Operations, the Driver Instructor will train and groom potential candidates into professional drivers. The ideal candidate will not only help with the training of our new drivers but will also play a key role in improving driver retention and establishing a safe driving culture.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform all duties as outlined in the Finishing School Curriculum, i.e. in-class orientation and training as well as on the road at multiple locations throughout our network and terminal locations
• Assist recruitment in the selection of candidates for the program
• Determine if each candidate is the correct fit for the company
• Give feedback on the progress of trainees as well as documentation of training
• Utilize and train the drivers on the technology provided

Qualifications:

• Valid Commercial Driver’s License
• Minimum 3 years driving experience
• Experience as a trainer
• The most recent license should show continuous accident-free, violation-free driving
• A passion for safety, training, and making the world a safer place
• A deep concern for others – a desire to help them learn and grow

Education:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Any other training or certification in defensive driving training is a big plus

Preferred Skills:

• Basic understanding of FMCSR (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations)
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including:
• Word
• Excel
• PowerPoint
• Outlook
• Proficient verbal, written, and presentation skills
• Effective time management skills
• Ability, willingness, and conscientiousness to work in the office and on the road
• Ability to learn, utilize, and train on new technology
• Ability to provide constructive criticism and feedback to candidates

• Work is performed in classrooms, vehicle yards, shops, and on the road
