Role and Responsibilities

The Barista/Pie Counter Customer Service role is focused on the shared customer experience for both Evans Brothers and Bean & Pie. This includes customer service and coffee/pie education, register management, retail sales, drink crafting and presentation, serving and packaging of pies and pastries, bar/café cleanliness and overall preparedness, and any other aspect of coffee and pie service that affects the customer experience. Hourly wage $10+ depending on experience, plus tips.

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Greeting customers with a smile and taking orders
• Communicating the missions of both Evans Brothers and Bean & Pie to our customers
• Explain current menu items to customers, answer questions about drinks, flavors, ingredients, etc.
• Verifies that customers who have communicated food sensitivities are not sold products that could be dangerous to their health (specifically gluten free and vegan options)
• Manage display cases: restocking items from bakery, condensing as needed and ensuring items are fresh
• Selling coffee beans, drinks, pies, pastries and merchandise
• Coffee, drink, pie and product knowledge
• Practicing good bar flow and efficiency of movement behind the bar
• Crafting and serving high quality drinks and food with consistency
• Ensure that customers are satisfied with their purchase and experience, and turn any negative situations into positive situations
• Managing the till with integrity and efficiency, counting cash back accurately
• Communicate product needs with bakery team/inventory needs to Cafe Manager
• Take customer orders for future pick up and record them in the Pie Order Binder
• Keep front counter organized at all times, restocking bags, boxes, cups and other supplies as needed
• Keeping the bar, café, outside the café and the dish area clean at all times
• Clear tables, bring back full dirty dish totes and assist with dishwashing as needed
• Following opening, closing and side-work checklists
• Following recipes and cleaning up after yourself
• Working with others in tight quarters
• An overall awareness of oneself and how you are contributing to the customer experience
• Assist bakers and manager with other tasks, as assigned
• Work weekends and holidays

Skills needed:

Communication, genuineness, attention to detail, multi-tasking, ability to prioritize tasks, punctuality, thoroughness, integrity, hard-working, cash handling, flexibility, self-awareness and awareness of others (customers and coworkers)

Coffee experience and interest preferred

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
