Automation Control Engineer / Programmer

SJF Material Handling is an integrator of material handling systems for the distribution and manufacturing industries since 1979. We provide conveyor systems, sortation equipment, print and apply applicators, along with a variety of other material handling specialty equipment. Due to our growth, we are looking for individual(s) wanting the challenge to join a company to build within our services division an in-house controls development and support team. Open to all experience levels.

As an Automation Control Engineer / Programmer you will be responsible for PLC based control system design including hardware specifications, HMI interfaces, on-site commissioning, training and troubleshooting. You will work directly with sales and mechanical engineering in developing solutions allowing you the opportunity to see projects through from beginning to end.

Job requires not only a technical background but good communication skills since you will be interacting with customers, sub-contractors, and other team members.

Required Skills

• Knowledge of PLCs and controls system
• Ability to create or work with mechanical / electrical drawing and schematics.
• Working knowledge of PLC Programming, hardware and software.
• Knowledge of conveyance systems including Motor Driven Roller technology.
• Experience with controlling carton or pallet controls system, including transportation, accumulation, transfer, merging, sortation, gapping, barcode readers, and HMI technologies.
• Experience troubleshooting and diagnosing mechanical, electrical and control software issues.
• Be able to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends at times.
• Be able to travel domestically up to 60-70% of time.

QUALIFICATIONS

Associate / Engineering Degree Certification in electrical or mechanical engineering or related field.

Experience in communication network protocols (Ethernet IP, EtherCAT, ProfiNet, etc..)
