Job Summary: Responsible for assisting the Residence Director in the day to day operations and supervision of an assisted living residence. Coordinates resident care, food service, marketing, and maintenance staff. Functions in multiple roles to include supervising, quality assurance, training and direct resident care as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversees and ensures the recruitment and retention of qualified staff throughout the residence, as evidenced by good morale, enthusiasm, team spirit, and dedication to the residents and their families.
  • Provides indirect supervision of all residence management and direct supervision of all residence staff; to include coaching, counseling, and performance evaluations.
  • Provides training and education to resident care staff on an ongoing basis. This includes classroom inservices and situation specific training.
  • Conducts monthly total staff meetings.
  • Motivates employees through staff appreciation, recognition, and incentive programs. Promotes positive employee relations and resolves grievances.
  • Meets resident needs and budget expectations by reviewing monthly staffing schedules to assure staff resources are managed and scheduled efficiently.
  • Assigns duties and examines work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
  • Maintains and facilitates open lines of communication between corporate and residence staff.
  • Monitors residence expenses on a regular basis.
  • Monitors timely completion of resident documentation.
  • Maintains outreach and education with the community in conjunction with the marketing coordinator to ensure positive relationships with community resources.
  • Participates in residence functions including family socials.
  • Works to resolve issues identified by residents and/or family members. If unable to solve a problem, appropriate referrals are made.
  • Ensures residence building and grounds are maintained in good repair, clean, free of trash and litter. Performs routine safety inspections on a regular basis.
  • Assures fire drills are conducted in residence according to company guidelines and state codes.
  • Organizes, develops and conducts service plan reviews, as required by state codes, with appropriate resident care team members and resident families.
  • Supervises the maintenance of resident charts, reviews documentation performed by resident care staff.
  • Oversees the pre-admission screening of prospective residents.
  • Oversees the resident admission process to assure required documentation, including nursing assessments, service plans and other assigned forms are completed in a timely manner and in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Oversees the healthcare management of all residents in accordance with company policy. Assures that ongoing evaluations are performed and that information is disseminated to family and staff as appropriate.
  • Reports all medical emergencies, incidents and medication errors according to company guidelines. Records information to the resident’s chart and documents on appropriate incident form.
  • Oversees company policy regarding administration of medication. Assists health care coordinator in staff training and insures frequent audits are performed on medication sheets.
  • Oversees audits of prescription medication and supply inventory. Reorders as necessary.
  • Assures that in-house services, such as beautician and/or podiatrist are scheduled and followed through. Reminds families of need for scheduled physician, dental or eye appointments.
  • Assures the safe and orderly storage of household supplies, food items, cleaning products, etc.
  • Shares on call duties as required.

  • Maintains a neat appearance, good personal hygiene, and appropriate attire.
  • Participates in training, in-services and attends meetings as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Manages resident care, food service and housekeeping staff. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include: training employees, planning, assigning/directing work, appraising performance, rewarding/disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
