Our guard force is trained at the highest standards established by the US Army regulations; this includes semi-annual weapons training, hand-cuff, OC spray, baton training, CPR/AED/First Aid training, anti-terrorism, active shooter.

Synopsis

This armed security position is located at Bonneville Dam providing security services aboard US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) property. This is not your typical commercial security job. These guards consider this a career with great pay, benefits, and a flexible schedule that allows them to balance their work and personal life. All have great relationships with each other, the Site Supervisor, and the Contract Manager. This is a cohesive- one team, one fight work atmosphere.

Armed Security Guards are primarily responsible to perform security and patrol functions such as securing buildings and property, protecting personnel, equipment and material and controlling access to work locations by employees and visitors. This includes being both static and mobile (by use of a company provided security vehicle). All guards are trained to US Army standards and protocols as it relates to responding to emergencies, active shooter situations, bomb-threats, anti-terrorism measures, conducting inspections, vehicle searches, report writing, access control, alarm monitoring, and perimeter inspections.

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

Must have or be able to obtain a security guard license through Oregon DPSST (armed and unarmed) – Meritus can assist all applicants in obtaining this license.

PAY: Highest paid guard force in this area. $18.32 plus an additional $4.59 hour = $22.91 (All guards are part of a union so there are annual pay, vacation time increases).

Meet all of the following requirements:
Must be 21 years old

Be able to pass a government background check (no cost to the applicant)

Read, write and speak English fluently

High School diploma/GED

Possess a current valid State Driver's License

Meet all federal, state and local requirements for Armed Security Guards (Meritus can assist applicants in obtaining this license)

Be able to pass a medical screening (paid for by Meritus)

Be able to pass a physical agilities test

Certification Requirements

Upon being hired, the guard will be required to undergo company provided training on the following subjects (This training is provided at no cost to the applicant)

Baton/OC Spray/Handcuff certifications
CPR/First Aid/AED certifications

US Army Pistol qualification

Once hired, all subsequent/follow-on annual training and unarmed/armed licensing re-certifications are paid for by Meritus.

Hours per week:

• Full time: 36-40 (Potential for overtime)
• Part time: schedules for part time guards are based on their pre-established availability.

Most guards work 4 consecutive days and are off 3 consecutive days (Typical schedule for a full time guard is 3 x 12 hour shifts, 1 x 4 hour shift, then off for 3 ½ consecutive days.)
