What we do:

Wichterman’s has developed and excelled in the upholstery industry for over 40 years. We primarily work on boat, automobile, and airplane interiors. We want to “WOW” our clients!

We are looking for self-motivated individuals with great attitudes and work ethic, who are able to take direction in order to complete tasks with limited supervision. We enjoy the highest standard of workmanship and accuracy, along with excellence in responsibility and trust.

The Customer Service / Upholstery Technician position will combine answering phones, helping walk-in customers, and also working in the shop on projects. The customer service roll also requires the ability to estimate (using the Wichterman's estimating process), taking in customer information, taking down payments and final payments, working with customers to establish needs/expectations, working with the Wichterman's team to confirm ability to complete the work as expected. This position works directly with the Operations Manager, who is the primary person responsible for the shop workflow, and quality control and will be the primary individual for the Customer Service agent to work with to determine required time to complete a job, ask questions about job details, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years previous related experience (e.g. customer service, addressing customer concerns, working in 'shop' environment, etc.)
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Team player with strong organizational skills
  • Excellent computer use skills (MS Word, web applications, email, etc.)
  • Excellent phone conversation skills
  • Ability to work with a variety of fabrics and materials
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools, such as: staple guns, nail guns, hot-knife cutters, and other industrial equipment

What we Require:

Education/Experience Required:

  • The applicant should be confident and have 3+ years of experience in the upholstery or related industry. Must be reliable and seeking a long-term career within the company (experience requirement could be reduced based on portfolio).
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Proven track record of customer service experience.

Customer Service Skills Required:

  • Excellent verbal (in person & phone) communication skills
  • Excellent written communication skills (e.g. email, text, instant messaging apps, workflow tools, etc.)
  • Excellent computer use skills (all jobs are input to a workflow control program, and the Customer Service representative is often the first person to generate the required ticket which will be used by the technicians)
  • Flat pattern layout, cutting, machine & hand sewing, gluing

Upholstery Skills Required:

  • Must have a strong emphasis on attention to detail and appreciate classic, antique and luxury vehicles/furniture
  • Experience in custom design is a plus
  • Flat pattern layout, cutting, machine & hand sewing, gluing

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $23.00 - $35.00 per hour
