State Credit Union is currently accepting applicants for the position of Systems Engineer within our Technology Systems and Services Department. The Systems Engineer is expected to administer, upgrade, secure, and maintain critical network and related hardware and software within the Credit Union. Duties of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Administration and maintenance of network infrastructure devices which includes routers, switches, firewalls, VPN, and data circuits.
  • Administration and maintenance of Credit Union phone systems.
  • Create and maintain concise and relevant systems documentation.
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing.
  • Communicate with vendors to obtain information and resolve problems when appropriate.
  • Monitoring and patching all network hardware.

Minimum Requirements Include:

Applicants must have 3-5 years' work experience in computer related field and advanced knowledge of pertinent systems, hardware, and software. Bachelor's degree in related computer technology area or equivalent education and experience is required. The successful candidate will have working knowledge of Cisco firewalls, switches, routers, and SSL/IPSEC VPN configurations. Experience with Cisco Call Manager, Unity, Presence, and Contact Center is highly desirable.

Duties of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Reviews current security policy for effectiveness against current information security threats and recommends changes to policy.
  • Coordinates the creation, approval, dissemination and implementation of new and modified procedures related to information security.
  • Review and update disaster and business continuity preparedness documentation to reflect current needs for information security when operating in a disaster or business continuity emergency mode.
  • Maintain a dynamic and iterative security awareness program for all employees, and perform ongoing analysis of results to monitor standards compliance.
  • Prepare requirements for external security audits as they relate to Information Security policies and procedures.
  • Assure adherence to all NCUA directives related to Information Security, including the development of risk criteria, periodic formal assessments, and creation/development of SCU's Information Security Program
  • Perform regular Information Security risk assessments of SCU's security posture.
  • Maintain relevant technical proficiencies in current Information Security technologies such as intrusion detection firewall, SIEM, and anti-malware systems. Make recommendations on how best to improve and strengthen the credit union's cyber security.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in a related field is required, and 5 years of experience in an IT and/or an Information Security role is preferred.

Understanding of network design, encryption, mobile security, network security technologies, monitoring tools and vulnerability management is required. Hands on experience in security systems, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, anti-virus software, authentication systems, log management, content filtering, etc.is required.

Security+ certification is preferred . Operational experience with products such as Cisco Firepower, Rapid7, and Crowdstrike are highly desired. Understanding of technology risks to a financial institution is significant for the ideal candidate. Must be able to lift 30 lbs. and be able to bend, crawl, push and pull without assistance.
