We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join our team at Brightwater. This position will assist with the general accounting and financial processes of our company.

You will be responsible for many daily and monthly accounting tasks, including final review of accounts payable prior to posting, review of payroll prior to the payroll department submitting and related journal entries, reconciliations of intercompany transactions among many other duties. You will perform month end financial transactions and post them in the general ledger, with strong attention to detail along with carrying out relevant administrative duties.

Ultimately, you will ensure the company’s finances run smoothly.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and update accounting records and files
• Post transactions and categorize records in the general ledger (e.g. by assets, liabilities and expenses)
• Reconcile bank statements.
• Analyze transactions.
• Conduct month-end and year-end closures
• Assist with year-end budget process
• Prepare documents for audits and insurance renewals
• Assist with credit applications
• Manage State/Province required renewals and licensing
• Apply new accounting policies and ensure compliance with rules and regulations
• Report to the Director of Accounting and work to improve financial processes

Requirements and skills

• Similar experience as a Staff Accountant or relevant role in accounting, two-year requirement
• Excellent use of Microsoft Office Word and Excel; strong knowledge with spreadsheets
• Knowledge of an Yardi software system is a plus
• Good math skills
• Comfortable with Microsoft Teams meetings and use as a communication tool
• Attention to detail
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Confidentiality and integrity
• Degree in Accounting is a plus
