Overview

We are currently seeking a highly motivated, experienced, and creative Senior Manager to join the New Products Introduction team. You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team responsible for designing, building, and commissioning advanced fuel cell-based systems for power generation, hydrogen production, and carbon capture applications. The Senior Manager Process Engineering will be responsible for leading a team responsible for all aspects of process design and controls, as well as the commissioning and demonstration of these next generation products. This position requires flexibility to work on multiple projects, covering a range of systems and technologies, in various stages of the design or validation process.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of process engineers developing FuelCell Energy’s next generation of commercial products.
  • Ensure that new products achieve key performance indicators for cost and performance, as defined in product development roadmaps.
  • Ensure overall quality of process engineering design packages, including Process Flow Diagrams, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams, Heat and Material Balances, equipment specifications, piping system designs, instrumentation specifications, and control narratives.
  • Ensures that systems are developed in accordance with best safety practices and applicable codes and standards.
  • Interface with business development, marketing, and application engineering to articulate new product characteristics and capabilities.
  • Drive a cultural of innovation to expand FCEs intellectual property portfolio.
  • Support fabrication, installation, commissioning and operation of prototype products.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations to communicate designs/results to internal and external stakeholders. Assist with writing project proposals.
  • Domestic and occasional International travel required: 15%
Qualifications and Experience:
Education: BS degree or higher in Chemical Engineering
Experience: Minimum 10 years of relevant industrial work experience in process engineering roles. At least 3 years’ experience managing engineering teams.

Required Experience and Characteristics:
  • Experience developing new processes or products.
  • Experience with plant commissioning and/or operations is desired
  • Motivate and inspire – motivate and inspire team members throughout the organization.
  • Ability to relate the capabilities of our products to a potential customer’s application of our technology solutions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively build relationships and influence others at all levels ranging from engineers to the C-suit
  • Strong understanding of chemical engineering processes, chemical process control, chemical reactions, and thermodynamics. Knowledge and experience of electrochemistry or fuel cells/batteries is a plus.
  • Good presentation skills to effectively communicate ideas and scientific findings
  • Team player who works willingly with others and keeps a positive, goal-focused outlook when tackling challenging, time-sensitive engineering problems
  • Flexible and adaptable to rapidly shift gears into multi-disciplinary roles based on current project requirements
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
  • Be able and willing to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as designated such as safety glasses, safety shoes, hard hats, respirator, and other PPE as required.
  • Travel: up to 15% domestic or international
  • Have or be able to obtain a Passport
