Description:

Research Technician will be working in a small scale lab/pilot lab that has 30 plants. They currently have 9 plants running. For the first month, Research Technician will be shadowing technicians with the equipment. They will work on their own plant once they and trainer is comfortable. Research Technician will be fixing valves and pumps and will need to understand the chemistry on what is happening in the reactors. Also need to have a strong mechanical aptitude working with the valves and pumps.

Research Technicians will be using chemical engineering in understanding flow rates and temperatures. They will be using a mechanical component to make sure plant is pressurized and depressurized. Need to be safety conscious b/c you will be dealing with high pressure. Technicians will also be working with a controls system (Labview) to control heating and pressure of the plant.

Research Technicians will be working with Researchers from the catalyst lab. The objective of these small plants are to collect data on a smaller scale to relay it to the bigger plant. Research Technicians will relay information to the researcher like testing a series of different catalysts or trying different feed.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• B.S. Chemical Engineering
• 0-1+ years of experience working in ethanol plant, brewery, or industrial/manufacturing/process setting where they are working with reactors
• Strong time management (verify through references)
• Mechanical Aptitude- experience turning a wrench and working with their hands
• Safety conscious (verify through references)
