Job Description :

The Research Engineer will coordinate the administration of the Florida Department of Transportations' Pavement Marking Management (PMM) progrm. The PMM program utilizes Mobile Retrorelectivity Units (MRUs) on a statewide basis assessing the safey and night-time pavement striping visibility level of in-service pavement markings.

The position requires a highly motivated and organized individual to collect and verify statewide pavement marking data, including the following high-level tasks:

- Schedules and coordinates the field operations and activities, including maintenance of traffic, with other Distric Offices and Consultants

- Performs data processing using appropriate software, storage, and analysis, and prepares detailed engineering reports on findings

- Ensures the timely calibration and maintenance of the testing vehicle and related equipment and that all activities are properly and timely planned, documented, and file communicated with District and Contractor personnel

- Continuous evaluation and improvement of the Mobile Retro-reflectivity Unit hardware and software

This position is with the University of North Florida, but located in the Pavement Section of the FDOT State Materials Office in Gainesville, FL.
