Position: Repair Program Manager - Full-time non-exempt role

Summary: Habitat for Humanity of East Jefferson County (HFHEJC) seeks a knowledgeable and dynamic person to lead its Critical Repair Program. This multifunction role will require knowledge in basic to complex repair and construction processes, loan origination practices (as required by State and Federal law), as well as an expert skill level in project/program management. The ideal candidate will be adept at communicating with various diverse groups and people with empathy and the highest levels of integrity. This is a unique and challenging end-to-end process role for a person who is dedicated to helping maintain dignified housing for those in need.

Responsibilities:
Critical Home Repairs Program (70%)

Home Repair Program

  • · Identify and oversee selection of qualified applicants for Habitat’s Home Repair Program. Review applications and financial information, administer the selection process, prepare documents and disclosures
  • · Provide support to selected applicants prior to, during and following the repair including application and financial paperwork, communication regarding project status, and sign-off
  • Oversee owner-occupied home repair program, developing scope of work for each project, cost projections, and schedules
  • Manage bids, select contractors, develop and oversee safety plans for each work site, ensure projects are executed according to plans, and coordinate contractors
  • Identify repair work that can be done by construction volunteers and provide supervision to volunteer crews
  • Communicate with customers and coordinate work with Homeowner Services Manager, providing information to facilitate smooth execution of projects

Construction Warranty Work (10%)

  • Execute one-year home warranty for all houses, in coordination with Special Projects Manager, and perform or facilitate needed repairs

Land Maintenance(10%)

  • Manage and implement eyes-on-land site work, maintaining land in good condition and addressing and preventing nuisances

Miscellaneous (10%)

  • Attend team and all-staff meetings, and other meetings as needed
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience in a variety of residential construction settings, especially critical home repairs and/or remodels
  • Proven ability to manage projects and coordinate schedules and people
  • Able to supervise volunteer construction crews to perform repair work
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills required, together with the ability to work collaboratively with applicants, staff, contractors, inspectors and volunteers
  • Highly organized and attentive to detail, and able to manage large amounts of information under stress
  • Support and endorse the Habitat for Humanity mission
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook and Excel
  • Must be able to handle sensitive information confidentially
  • As a loan originator, must meet character and fitness standards and be able to pass a pre-employment screening that includes criminal background and credit check
  • The ability to travel as needed to meet with home repair applicants and participants
  • Willingness to maintain the flexible work schedule necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of this position, including evenings and weekends as needed
  • Ability to climb stairs to access second floor office and to sit at desk for long periods of time
  • Able to use hand and power tools and able to lift 50 pounds and stand for extended periods of time
  • Able to work at heights: climb ladders, work on ladders and scaffolding
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Physically able to work on outdoor construction sites in all kinds of weather
  • Proficiency in Spanish a plus
  • Offer of employment contingent on successful completion of background check, including criminal records and sex offender registry

Salary and benefits:
Hiring Range $20 - $24 per hour, Full Range $20 - $28. Full-time non-exempt role which includes the below benefits:

  • Employer-paid medical, dental and vision for employees regularly working at least 30 hours per week, beginning first of the month after hire; in addition, currently providing employer contribution to Health Savings Account for eligible employees. Dependents may be covered at employee expense.
  • 401k program, currently contributing 4% of eligible wages for eligible employees
  • Employees working at least 20 hours per week receive 15 days’ vacation, 10 holidays, and two personal days (all accrued on a pro-rated monthly basis)
  • All employees receive 10 days sick time per year, accrued on a pro-rated monthly basis
