Job Summary:

Suncor Stainless, the leader in stainless steel hardware and Atlantis Rail, the cable railing specialists are seeking to expand their Product Team by hiring a Product Manager. The individual in this key role collaborates with cross functional teams within the Engineering, Marketing, and Sales departments. The Product Manager is responsible for managing the product lifecycle and product related marketing of new and existing products from initial development through maturity. This includes market and sales concept development, research, specification, initial product marketing development, product documentation, product instructions, and the development/delivery of product training. This position is also responsible for existing products regarding developing and maintaining technical documentation and training material to the highest standard, tracking competitive trends, and providing data to senior management.

Job Responsibilities:

Product Management (PDLC) and Product Documentation:

  • Develop and implement a visible standard process for tracking the Product Development Life Cycles (PDLC) from drawing board to inventory for all new or changed products to be used by marketing, engineering, and management.
  • Schedule and manage marketing side of PDLC for new products in conjunction with engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, and marketing from concept to production in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner.
  • Support and provide technical assistance in development and documenting test procedures and processes related to new product development.
  • Develop all product documentation, instructions, and training for new and existing products.
  • Provide corrective actions regarding documentation when product problems arise including warranty and/ or and installation issues.
  • Produce product blocks and other market ready information and materials required for new and existing products.
  • Assist with and provide other technical product support as requirements arise.

Product Research:

Research, Report and Track Competitive Products

  • Research/analyze new potential products and render a sample Product Development Life Cycles (PDLC) outline and technical product feasibility information for use in management decision.
  • Prepare reviews of technical differences between Suncor Stainless and Atlantis Rail product and the competition. Document technical findings through SWOT format for management review.
  • Acquire and analyze competitive products to provide reports on marketability, SWOT, and customer decision factors.
  • Document and maintain competitive information for use by all internal stake holders from sales to engineering.

Marketing and Training Support:

Provide, maintain, participate, and manage base product information and training

  • Become a product expert for the Suncor Stainless and Atlantis Rail product lines.
  • Develop and provide deliverable product training on all products.
  • When required, deliver product training internally and externally including architect training.
  • Provide ongoing improvement of current documentation, instructions and training and propose improvements.
  • Provide analysis of competitive training efforts.
  • Propose and implement approved improvements in our documentation, instructions, and training.
  • Flag interesting customer projects for marketing stories and showcases. Write technical summary for flagged projects for submission to website, publications, news releases, and social media.
  • Review industry articles, websites, problems, and solutions brought to light by various contributors, internal and external, to develop technical content including how to instructions, improvements in documentation, and new and improved training material.
  • Populate the internal Knowledge Base with new information as it becomes available.
  • Produce specialized or recommended customer projects that can be publicized and marketed as applicable processes through clear documentation, white papers, and specifications.
  • When required, deliver product training internally and externally including architect training.
  • Provide ideas for new electronic training, product animation and instructional videos.

Marketing Content Development:

  • Provide contributory material including, but not limited to press releases, product bulletins, trainings, and instructional videos for marketing publication.
  • Translate content developed to multiple media use for 10 X distribution and use across all marketing channels.
  • Maintain and update product information, instructional videos, product animations and technical data across Suncor Stainless and Atlantis Rail websites.
  • Conduct site visits to gather quality project photographs.
  • Update and create content for external product listing on customer websites.
  • Develop and maintain master product specification document

Qualifications & Skills:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Product Management, Business Management, or similar field.
  • Product Development and Marketing experience (Minimum 10 years).
  • Advanced understanding of mechanical concepts and manufacturing processes.
  • Technical design skills and experience collaborating with Engineering departments (Minimum 10 years).
  • Ability to conduct market research and competitor analysis.
  • Proficient customer relation skills and customer support experience (Minimum 5 years).
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross functional teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project).

Preferred:

  • Master’s Business Administration
  • Experience in Marine, Industrial and/or Architectural industries.
  • Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Premiere)
  • Familiarity with product animation using SOLIDWORKS (or like software)
  • Master’s Business Administration
