Position Description:
We are looking for an intermediate Opto-Electronics Technician who is motivated, innovative, and able to work with minimal supervision. This position will be responsible for assembling, testing, and repairing high-mix low-volume family of products.

Responsibilities:

• Follow electrical schematics, mechanical drawings and work instructions to assemble and test mechanical, electronic, and optical assemblies under minimal supervision
• Perform functional, qualification, and acceptance tests
• Perform test and calibration of optical sensors
• Apply technical knowledge of electronic, mechanical and optical principles to troubleshoot using diagrams, schematics, engineering data and test equipment
• Make needed repairs to electro-mechanical assemblies, optical sensors, and cable harnesses
• Proactively suggest improvements to clarify documentation and insure consistency in assembly and testing

Requirements:

• Ability to read and understand electronic schematics, wiring diagrams and mechanical drawings
• Familiarity with handling sensitive optical components, such as lenses, semiconductor lasers, and photo detectors
• A working understanding of imaging and beam propagation
• Proficient with soldering miniature wires, connector solder cups, and circuit boards
• Experience using hand tools such as screwdrivers, crimpers, pliers, etc.
• Expertise with computer applications such as MS Word and Excel
• Experience with multimeters, oscilloscopes, function generators, mechanical stages, and optical power meters
• Excellent analytical and organizational skills and attention-to-detail, with a strong desire for continuous improvement
• Clear communication skills, both written and verbal

Qualifications:

• Minimum 2+ years of optical and electronic assembly and calibration in a production environment
• Associate Degree in Electronics Engineering, Electronics Technology or equivalent education
• IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 certification or equivalent, with demonstrated current soldering skills preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $27.00 - $33.00 per hour
