We have an immediate opening for a transportation dedicated fleet operations manager at an existing operation in Aberdeen, SD. This position is responsible for the direct management and supervision of a fleet of truck drivers and support staff to include compliance with DOT regulations, company policy, employee performance and retention, and efficient and effective movement of our customer's freight. This position is on-site with the customer requiring daily interaction and relationship management with the key customer contacts.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that safety is the number one priority in all aspects of the operation.
• Supervise and provide leadership to build and maintain a strong team through effective communications, recruiting, training, coaching, counseling, appraising and rewarding.
• Manage driver performance and activity to ensure a safe work environment and zero service failures.
• Manage work assignments and projects for the support staff that reports to this position.
• Identify and resolve delivery and scheduling problems through timely communication with customers, drivers, and delivery locations.
• Ensure additional functions including payroll, billing, reporting, and driver counseling is done timely and accurately.
• Ensure compliance with D.O.T., OSHA, and all federal and state regulations, as well as company rules and policies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Transportation, Logistics or equivalent work experience.
• 5 - 10 years of recent experience in transportation/fleet management, supervising and leading a transportation team consisting of drivers and office staff.
• Experience managing third party dedicated fleet transportation operations desired.
• Demonstrated experience leading, directing, communicating change and developing a team strongly desired.
• Candidates must possess a strong skill base using MS Office software, specifically Excel.
• Previous experience with general financial statements, accounts payable, and budgets desired.
