JOB PURPOSE

SMT has been at the forefront of innovation in the sports broadcast and live event production for 30 years. We invented the yellow first down line on football broadcasts. We create a stadium experience in the middle of a golf course. We are behind the scenes at major sporting events all over the world, and our work is shown on televisions and giant LED displays for millions of viewers. SMT Creative Studio is responsible for designing and building the graphics that shape the fan experience from the living room to the golf course to the grandstands.

We are looking for someone with a strong design background and the ability to break those designs into functional modules. Somebody who is familiar with template construction and is always 3 steps ahead on your builds. Someone with true attention to detail but can also see the forest for the trees. Someone who strives for ease and efficiency in all things. If you want to be a part of the biggest sporting events in the world and have the opportunity to attend them, this is the job for you. On any given Saturday you'll see your work on major broadcast networks around the world.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Build projects in a variety of graphics platforms; including, but not limited to: Chyron, Brainstorm, Ross, VizRt, and proprietary SMT applications
• Prepare creative elements – stills, video and 3D – from client and internal design files
• Produce uniform graphic templates
• Create project documentation
• Perform basic video editing
• Coordinates with Developers to write code as necessary to add efficiency to projects
• May train/support SMT personnel on the use and operation of applications with which they have been involved
• Accurately deliver and consistently meet deadlines for art handoffs
• Keep up to date on the latest graphics technology
• Available for after-hours support and minimal travel (10%)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

• A clear command of fundamentals of design such as composition, color, and especially typography.
• Must have thorough knowledge of 2D and 3D Animation techniques and software (including but not limited to Adobe Suite of products, Unreal, Cinema4D)
• Must possess a thorough knowledge of Illustrator and Photoshop
• Possess an understanding of the live television graphics production cycle. Live sports production experience a plus.
• Be an independent self-starter with a proven record of working in a team environment.
• Possess excellent organizational skills; excellent written and verbal communications skills
• Ability to “think on one’s feet” and present oneself professionally.
• Understands the differences in design considerations between broadcast and large format outdoor displays.
• Have strong attention to detail.
• Be adaptive to change and be comfortable working to very tight deadlines.
• Enjoy and thrive working in a fast paced environment where juggling multiple concurrent projects is the norm.
• Ability and willingness to take direction.
