Office hours: Monday-Friday 7:45am-4:30pm Full-time permanent

Position Overview: The Medical Assistant will support the physicians and NP, PA to facilitate and direct interactions between the patient and provider. The CMA will work collaboratively with staff and patients to ensure a successful interaction between the patient and practice team. Gastroenterology Associates believes in a team approach for wellness.

Essential Job Functions:

• Perform clinical duties in accordance with the scope of practice per CMA certification and in accordance with NYS laws and regulations.
• Carry out all assigned clinical procedures for the comfort and well-being of patients, per practice protocol.
• Responsible for reviewing the patient's ongoing plan of care, under supervision, to ensure that all necessary information/document are accessible by the provider at the time of the appointment
• Obtains vitals, medical history and medications and documents in EMR.
• Prepare exam rooms and sterilize equipment and supplies per protocols.
• Assist physicians/providers with patient care and/or scheduling, per office protocol
• Act as a liaison between patients and physicians/providers with regard to clinical questions, prescription refills, test results and other patient calls per practice protocols.
• Prepare patient’s record for visit, as directed by physician/provider.

Requirements: Graduation from an accredited CMA program Current CMA certification or eligibility to become certified

• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Knowledge of diseases and treatment
• Ability to apply aseptic tech and sterilization
• Knowledge of the practice management system, EMR and scheduling protocols
• Basic keyboard skill
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• High level of accuracy in performing responsibilities
• Exceptional service attitude and communication style
• Professional appearance and demeanor
