Job Description :

The Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife, Inc. (CROW) located in Sanibel, Florida is seeking a qualified candidate for our Medical and Research Director. Ideal candidate would be a Diplomate of ACZM, ABVP, or ACVPM. Candidates with certification through WAVMA will also be considered. Strong preference will be given to those with sea turtle and aquatic experience.

Essential duties will include but are not limited to the following:

Research, Development, Publishing, and Presenting

  • Performs original and supportive research, publishing and presenting in relevant professional journals and at national/global conferences
  • Seeks partnerships with other research hospitals, relevant local, state, and federal institutions, and university-based wildlife veterinary programs to conduct and support primary research
  • Works directly with the Director of Development and Advancement to seek, apply for, and obtain funding for CROW programming particularly related to operations, research, and training at the hospital

Education

  • Designs DVM Internship, Externship, Fellow, and Veterinary Medicine training programs grounded in industry best practices
  • Recruits, selects, and manages veterinary interns either through or outside of VIRMP in conjunction with the Staff Veterinarian and Hospital Committee
  • Works with the Staff Veterinarian to support orientation and supervision for interns and staff

Patient Care

  • Leads/supervises complex medical, surgical, and rehabilitative care of wildlife patients as needed in partnership with the Staff Veterinarian
  • Performs emergency duties as necessary or delegates and consults on after-hour emergencies if needed
  • Ensures all federal, state, county, and city licensures for the wildlife hospital and rehabilitation center are current
  • In partnership with the Staff Veterinarian, supports the development of hospital policies through the creation of policy and procedural manuals for both facilities and patient care

COVID-19 considerations:
